weighted vs. unweighted gpas for college apps

<p>For private universities such as NYU and USC, when they list their gpas (ex: NYU is 3.5 and USC is 3.7, according to US News), is that a weighted or unweighted gpa?</p>

<p>Also, when the counselors send in your transcript, do the colleges take out classes such as pe? how about electives such as theatre- advanced and intermediate theatre for instance?</p>

<p>The GPAs listed on USNews are based on the Common Data Set which are supposed to be based on a 4.0, thus unweighted. Each school will decide what classes it want’s to consider (like the UCs and their A-G requirements).</p>
