I got a letter from Swarthmore to my parents asking them if they had questions and then telling them that they look forward to seeing them on move-in day. Do they think I'm enrolling or are they just hoping I'll enroll? I'm kind of nervous.

got the same letter. i’m almost positive they’re just hoping you’ll enroll. it’s pretty standard practice with mailings to accepted students to use language that strongly implies that you’re going to enroll. kind of a guilting strategy i guess; all my (many) mailings from NYU say things like “can’t wait to see you in the Village,” “as a member of the Class of 2015,” etc., even though there’s pretty much no chance i’ll enroll and i haven’t done anything to indicate i will.

also got that letter. don’t worry :)

Phew. Was worried there for a sec.

Once upon a time, Penn sent acceptance letters saying: “welcome to the ivy league”- doesn’t commit you (although you’re fortunate if you made the cut at Swarthmore).
