What you have received is a likely letter. They are sent to those students that the university would really like to matriculate. They send these letters to let you know that you will be admitted but they can't officially let you know until April 1st. Your stats are probably top of the heap and/or you have another hook that they are interested in and they really want you to come there. They figure if they let you know how interested they are then you may refrain from accepting another school until they send their official acceptance. Congratulations !!

IC.... I thought it was bucknell's way of saying waitlist..

I am very surprised that I was sent this letter because my stats are quite low and I wasn't even sure of making the admission. I'm not too sure i will make the admission because I didn't do that well in this senior first semester...

did any RD applicants hear back yet? when are we supposed to hear back?

Hey phatxtiger - what were your stats? You know that they prolly give the "likely letters" to the kids who have above a 1400 on their SATs. So Im just curious to what you got on your SAT....

you should get your formal admission letter a day or 2 before April 1. I think they say April 1, then mail them out a few days ahead, so that most applicants have gotten them before the 1st, thus avoiding a deluge of desperate phone calls to admissions on April 1 or 2 about "where is my letter?"!!

The early letter you did receive is their way of letting you know that you are highly likely to be admitted, and maybe it would be best not to rush sending $$ to reserve your spot at any other institution you might hear from before early April.

I have a lowish GPA (3.62) and a low SAT (1330) and I got a "likely" letter. My ap scores and sat 2s are fairly average too. I think my essay was good, that's probably why they liked my app.
So you don't need to have a 1400 to get a likely letter!

I honestly can't say I blame you... It's too small of a school to know 4 people from your home town. It would be like high school all over, but thats just my opinion.

jewls...yeah thats what i was thinking exactly. i always wanted college to be the opposite of my town, so i guess i'll just hafta wait and see where i get in.

Four doesn't seem like too much of a crowd, more like a good carpool for long breaks. :) Of course we are used to Texas where most people auto admit to UT and A & M so you will have 50-60 from your town attending, sometimes more. My son is one of eight Texans in the class of 08, so I can also understand the need to be different.

im not from a very big town and 3 out of these 4 ppl have known me since i was in elementary school. i mean i am good friends with 2 of them but i just dont want to go to college already having a group.. i want something completely different.
