Welcome New College Rep, deanflagel from George Mason University

Please join me in welcoming our newest College Rep, deanflagel from George Mason University!

(As a reminder, we have taken reasonable steps to verify that our College Rep members are indeed who they claim to be. If you encounter anyone in the community who claims to be from a college's admissions office but isn't designated as a College Rep, please let us know and be wary of any advice provided before that person is so designated. Naturally, for important decisions you should rely on official communications from the college in question, not forum posts.)

Stop in and say hello in this thread, but please do NOT use this thread to ask questions - start a new thread with an appropriate title. In addition, since our College Reps are busy people, please do NOT start threads asking for help specifically from the Rep - please post the query to the community in general, and you'll be likely to get multiple informed views on the subject. If the College Rep can provide useful input, no doubt he/she will chime in.

Welcome Deanflagel, nice to have u aboard...!

Many thanks. Very glad to be here, and happy to answer any questions - about Mason or more generally about college admissions!

Welcome on aboard!

Welcome, deanflagel,

There are some interesting, atypical academic programs at George Mason, especially at the graduate or certificate level ("Aviation Psychology," "E-Commerce,") but also at the bachelor's level (e.g., "Conflict Analysis and Resolution," "Electronic Journalism"). I hope that your presence on CC makes members more aware of what GMU offers.

Hi. I have a question regarding deadlines- the GMU application deadline for early action is November 1st. Does this mean that the transcript and all recommendations also need to be in by November 1st? Does the University Scholars program require a separate application? Thanks!

@ futureJD'smom - Please don't ask questions in this thread, as the original post states.

Anyways, welcome deanflagel!

Welcome, deanflagel,

The information and candid perspectives your college admissions blog delivers daily have been interesting and entertaining. I look forward to reading your contributions to College Confidential. Thanks!

Again, many thanks for the welcomes. JD's mom, I'll be happy to answer questions in personal messages or in another thread, but just this once...
We generally give a two week grace period on deadlines for materials to be received, and the Scholars/honors/scholarship application is contained in the admission application.
Many thanks on the compliments - I look forward to contributing here as well!

Welcome, deanflagel. :)

Welcome and enjoy!

Welcome, deanflagel! Our son transferred to GMU last fall and just loves it! Its offerings are rich; its faculty and staff very helpful and supportive; its campus dynamic and growing; its location and access to cultural activities and internships just wonderful; and, its clubs and activities top-notch. No wonder that U.S. News & World Report has ranked GMU the #1 school to watch. It is a very special place to be! Keep up the great work!

what a great welcome! many many thanks for such a positive message!

Welcome deanflagel! I am glad there is an official representative here to help guide interested students and parents in their decisions. It is an often confusing journey through the college admissions process, especially for those who are going through it for the first time.
