Please join me in welcoming our newest College Rep, UOregon, from the University of Oregon.

As a reminder, our College Reps are individuals that we have taken reasonable steps to verify as being from the school they represent. (If you find a CC member claiming to be an admissions person at a college and that member isn't flagged as a College Rep, please let us know so that we can verify his/her status.)

As an matter of courtesy to our College Reps (who have real-world jobs and are incredibly busy during the admissions season!), please don't post pleas for help naming the individual (e.g., "Hey UOregon - Need Answer ASAP!!!" is what NOT to do - ask your question in a new thread with a clear and specific title, and you'll get input from CC members and, perhaps, from the resident College Rep if he/she has something to contribute.)

Say hello if you like, but please don't ask questions in this thread - start a new one with a relevant title. Thanks!

Welcome! I (and most of my family) grew up in Eugene and the U of O played a big part in our lives. I’m glad to see the university represented on CC!

Many of my son’s friends here in California think they will apply to U of O this fall. They realize that U of O is a great option for them considering it’s becoming increasingly difficult to get into the CA public schools, and that it could actually be a better fit for them. They seem to think that if they have a certain gpa, they are assured of automatic admission. Is this really true and what is that magic number?

There has been in the past, but another poster here said fairly recently that this year (freshmen entering fall of 2011) was going to be the last year of the auto-admit policy. I haven’t seen anything official about that, but perhaps our new college rep can shed some light.

Welcome from up the road (or down the river)! D2 is happy to have been accepted to the Clark Honors College for next fall. She’s waiting to hear about the Presidential scholarship, any hints on how and when applicants will be notified?

The past two nights she has ignored her homework and has gone down to UO for the quarter and semi final HS basketball playoffs, she’ll be there tonight for the finals as well.

Hello, all. Thanks for the warm welcome, and apologies for the slow response. Yes, we are indeed doing away with automatic admission, though auto-admit is still in play for Fall term 2011 admits.

@chaospaladin: For the UO, the UOregon user account will attempt to answer these questions, but you’d be better off contacting individual academic departments. Grad-level program admissions are handled by departments directly, with some input from the UO Graduate School.
