I appied to arts and sciences although I am interested in majoring in economics. I did not apply to Wharton even though I believe I would have been a compelling candidate having started and run two successful business for the past five years with national and state recognition. I was not sure I wanted to limit myself with an undergraduate business degree, and anticipated eventually getting an MBA. I am also interested in other fields.I am deciding between Penn arts and sciences and several other top tier schools of equal caliber where I would be an economics major and minor in the other field that interests me and where I also have experience. The question I have is how does one feel at Penn majoring in economics if not at Wharton but having the qualifications to have had the chance to attend? I am seeing all these posts about a Wharton superiority complex at Penn. I might try to transfer over after freshman year if I realize that I really want Wharton, but heard that is next to impossible. How does someone who has run successful businesses feel at Penn if interested in the business field and comes to Penn but is not at Wharton?

I'm transferring to the College of Arts and Sciences as a sophomore next year. Can I still apply for the Dual Degree with Wharton? Do I have a decent chance of getting in? What courses do I need to take next year?

Can you please give me some information about Penn's club ice hockey team. In general, do they play other teams, are players recruited or filled by people who express their talent on their application, etc. I ask because i would like to know if I should call a coach or something and see if they will scout me (in FL) whether to make me a recruited athlete or just to help my admissions chances by filling a club spot. My love for hockey as well as reffing hockey is certainly shown (Ive been playing travel hockey since i was 5and the state supervisior of refs and general manager of my local arena told me that Im one of the next up and coming refs to look out for). Would this significantly help my chances at the University of Pennsylvania? Im a full IB diploma candidate, top 1% in the county of 6000 kids, 1420/2090 SAT (applying ED to wharton). I also have a question on another topic. Does a high school that is consistently ranked from 25-75 in the nation show a more intense courseload and a harder earned gpa? Thanks a lot for your time and energy.

Notice the "club" in "Penn's club ice hockey team" - I think that should answer most of your questions. Check out http://www.upenn.edu/recreation/clubs/clubPages/clubpages_icehockey.htm
as well.

Hi. I got into CAS, and am thrilled to start this fall. I was just wondering, is it too difficult to be given the chance to do a doubel degree with wharton, I'm really interested ni doing econ in CAS and finance in wharton, what would the requisites be?

Irish and megaman - everything is online on our website: http://undergrad.wharton.upenn.edu/degree_programs/internal_transfers.cfm

Thank you mattwonder, I was able to use that email and find what i needed. I also have a quick question about the writing scores and SAT IIs. Ive heard that for the academic index your writing score is replacing the third SAT II but if i have 3 SAT IIs that are higher, will my writing score not necessarily be discarded but not used in the academic index calculation to make room for my higher SAT II. Thanks.

damn a 3.7 cutoff for 06-07... I'mm gonna have to work my butt off freshman year, oh well

At NYU 80% of the school graduates with 2-3 internships. Does university of pennsylvania have any statistics for that....specifically wharton if possible? How easy/hard is it to get an internship?

Can anyone tell me between IB and A-levels, which has a higher chance of successful admission to Upenn?

I also want to know about that....IB or AP have more success?

Hi WhartonAdvisor, Thank you for taking your time to look over my question. I want to prepare myself at my present college so if I decide to apply as a transfer i will qualified. I was on the transfer website and I know i need calc. 1 & 2 to come in as a sophomore. I am confused about the econ classes needed, is there any way you could explain the two?
Thanks

Hi,
Can a Huntsman use a 7 in IB Physics and a 7 in IB history for credit towards some requirements? It's a tight schedule and any leeay would free up time for some electives. Thanks in advance.

Wharton Advisor,

Is it possible to do part I of the application (biographical information) online and part II (essays, etc.) on paper?

Thanks

Wharton Advisor, Hi.

I know there were discussions about the joint programs, but there has not been much talk about the Seven Year Bio-Dental Program..
Not many people seems to know about it..
I was wondering if you know anything about it..
Thanks in advance.

WhartonAdvisor,

Regarding LSM, does the admission process consist of adcoms (or whatever you want to call them) picking applicants that fit the program or just both Wharton and CAS?

I feel like I wouldn't be able to get into Wharton if I applied with a "regular" major, but I do feel that I would be an excellent LSM applicant as my ECs, passions, and achievements have been tailored specifically for business and science.

I hope you can interpret my question. Thanks!

Hi Guys,

Sorry I'm not working at Wharton anymore! I've moved on to college counseling :). Good luck with the process!
