OMFG thanks everyone!!

hey thanks yall who persuaded me not to withdraw my apps to the colleges... I cant believe it i got into U PENN WHARTON OMFG...................thanks..i would have withdrawn the app if it werent u guys telling me not to jeez i m so happy i never thought i have a freaking chance with 80 kids applying from my class

YAAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) I'm soooo happy for you!!! :D

You've been invaluable on this board... wow, tough decision. Still doing UMich? Or Wharton/Penn?

Wow! Congratulations!!!!!! Now who needs Cornell?

Congratulations!

Congratulations! That's incredible - and it's scary to think you were ready to pull the plug.

Have a wonderful time choosing.

As I recall...it was your parents who gave you pause before pulling the plug on Wharton (which you said you had "absolutely no chance" of getting accepted to because you were deficient in every possible category). You came here to sort of bemoan the fact that your parents weren't thrilled with you being satisfied with Michigan. We just agreed with them. Give credit where credit's due. They're going to be around as your GPS for more important life decisions longer than we'll ever be there for you. Remember this next time they tell you to hold out for something better.

Now, that said, let's clear the air. First, when you withdraw from Michigan...please let me know so that you won't have to continue to be dead to me. Second, while Southern Cal is as offensive to me as UM, don't be so quick to pull the plug there. Remember, there are many ways to rank colleges and I can tell you that there are some key areas in which Southern Cal is vastly superior to Wharton. Hold on to your dreams, man, if only for a few more weeks!

congrats bearcats. and i hope tommeister doesn't check out your link d'yer

I'm afraid tommeister is up to his eyeballs doing research...

The Question:

"HOLY COW! Just what are Exeter's matriculation stats for Southern Cal anyway?"

have your parents take you to The White Dog for dinner( near hospital at Penn.)

congratulations- that is so great! and I agree with d'yer- give your parents some credit!!!!

"The Question:

"HOLY COW! Just what are Exeter's matriculation stats for Southern Cal anyway?""

it's gotta be pretty darn good. For us they accepted every single kid down to 2.4 GPA for the last 2 years....i think they love N.E prep schools. so tom has a great chance :p

Congratulations to bearcats and his parents!

This is a great thread. Your parents expressed concern about your decision making without going off the deep end. You heard it and reflected deeply. In the end, you displayed wisdom and maturity and now you have some terrific choices to make. Great stuff. Made my day.

Congratulations! I'm a Penn alum myself (although not Wharton), and it is an awesome school. You'll get a great education, and although there's a lot of work, you'll find your classmates also know how to have a good time. I hope you have a great four years there.

Congrats, bearcats, and thanks for the link, d'yer. Unfortunately I've already received a letter from USC which said there's no way in hell they're letting me in. It's a shame, really...

Friend, there's always Notre Dame. I dated a Song Girl for a summer and we're still friends...all because of the rivalry actually.

Also...this brings to mind a point about sex. This is serious...a free word to the wise (not to the Lovemeister in particular): Of all the reasons to be careful about sexual relationships in college (and, certainly in high school) is that as soon as you have sex (however you prefer to define it) with someone, the relationship is terminal. Maybe not right away, but unless that's the person you marry, the relationship should -- and must -- end once you get married. Not even "just friends." With only the rarest of exceptions can you let it continue and still be respectful of your spouse. Me? I've got lots and lots of friends of the opposite sex from college. Other guys from college...not so fortunate. I mean I thought they were pretty lucky at the time, but I'm the one with all the friends that they can't keep. One poor sap...a girl he slept with once and dumped is now his boss! Talk about a dead end professionally. That's a big hurdle to overcome that none of his co-workers have to deal with. Anyway...add that to the talk of STDs, religious grounds, and whatever else people tell you about sex at school. If you're at a top-notch boarding school, the people you're hanging with are probably going places and you may actually be ending an important relationship if you, ahem, "take it to the next level."

On that note...time to have a good weekend everyone!

CONGRATULATIONS (even though I don't even know you)!!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you going to go? It sounds like you definitely want to go, and if I were you, I would, beyond all doubts and worries, attend. I've heard that it's incredible (the fun and the friendships, not just the AMAZING education).
My sister got into UPenn, too, but into the College of Arts and Sciences instead of Wharton. She's leaning toward NYU's Stern right now.

Once again, just b/c it makes me happy that you got in:

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great job, kiddo!

Now you have to support the rest of the prep school juniors next year when we apply. =P

omg congratulations bearcats!
I also considered not applying after my low ssat score and it was only because of this website that I applied anyway.(accepted by Hotchkiss, Andover, and Lawrenceville!!!)

What'd you get on the SSAT, hopeful?

OMFG congrats Bearcats!!! Wharton is like my dream school!!! have fun
