So I am unable to take summer classes at the school I planned to attend in the Fall, FSU, because of some health issues, and when I asked to be changed to start in Fall, they only gave me the chance to start in Spring.

I don't want to start in Spring because I want to be able to transfer to UM in the Spring, and to do that, ill probably need 30 credits or more. I should have 15 or 12 credits from high school, so I was planning on taking 2 summer classes and 4 fall classes at FSU. Now that I can't do that, I don't really know what to do.

I could go to UCF, but I really wouldn't like it there, and I don't want to spend any considerable amount of time there.

First tings first, I either need to take the two online classes at UCF (I don't know if I can take these two classes away from campus or not) or take two online classes from a community college. I'd like to take them from Santa Fe community college, since it is the feeder school for UF, and I might want to go there in the future. It takes 60 credits to apply to transfer there though, so I need to not fall behind If I want to be there by next year. If anyone has any helpful information, please help me, I appreciate it.

My AP and DE credits include:
Composition 3 DE
Composition 4 DE
Psychology AP - 3
Euro AP - 3 or 4 (should count as an elective or 6 history prerequisite credits.)

Wow…perhaps this posting is not indicative of your general outlook on life, but it makes you sound like an incredible whiner. The only things you apparently want to do are those that you are not able to do right now and you are not willing to wait/work for them. Your currently available options are all described as undesirable.

College admissions officers are not Santa Claus. They do not grant you privileges simply because you want them.

Based on your post, I surmise that attending UM as soon as possible is your first priority. To accomplish this, you will need to take classes this fall at either UCF or CC, either on campus or online. Only you can decide which of these possibilites work best for you.

I am sorry that you have experienced heath issues. Hopefully you will be able to use your summer to mature and focus your efforts.

If you were to start at FSU over the summer, would you not have been just continuing on at FSU this fall? Or were you accepted to a program that required you to attend successfully during the summer to be allowed to continue in the fall? That is an important difference.

Also, you plan on transferring to University of Miami (a selective private school) before getting a single grade at FSU? And will you have the money to pay the freight at UM, since often transfer students do not receive good FA packages?

If you really want to go to UM, why don’t you just enroll there this fall, or take a gap year and apply there for next fall?

Sorry, I posted this very quickly and didn’t reread what I had written before I had posted it. I can’t start at FSU over the summer at this point, and they won’t offer me the option to start during the Fall, (even though my grades are above their freshman incoming averages… don’t ask me why) and I don’t want to waste time or fall behind, so I don’t want to take the time off until the Spring (especially when I’m trying to transfer sooner than later).

I have the money to attend UM as a transfer. I didn’t apply to UM as a freshman this year because I didn’t think my grades would get me in. I still don’t, that’s why taking a gap year really isn’t an option. I was considering taking a gap year and reapplying to UF, but I’m not sure if that is a good idea or not (If I don’t get in I’ve just wasted a year).

I guess saying I don’t want to attend UCF makes me a whiner, but I just think I’d be miserable there. I am currently signed up for 2 online classes from UCF which start on monday, and right now that seems to be my only option for summer besides getting classes quickly from a community college.

When I apply to UM, I’ll only have 2 classes completed (my two summer classes), but they explained to me that if I am not accepted based on those two grades and my high school grades, they won’t deny me, they’ll wait to see my Fall grades before making a decision. So I’d have 6 grades at the most when they make a decision whether or not to accept me.

Should I try and pick up another online class from a community college during the summer so I am getting 3 classes done instead of two? I don’t know if that’s too much because I’ve never taken an online (or college) course before. Also, is it possible for me to take four online classes during Fall instead of going to UCF in the Fall? (I’d take one or two classes from a community college and as many as I could from UCF).
Thanks.

You should be asking these questions to the admissions people at UM, not here. None of us will know such a specific answer.

What is so horrible about UCF that you don’t want to set foot on campus, and want to take any classes from UCF on line only? How will the on campus experience differ so vastly from that of UM? And how will it be perceived by the transfer admissions committee–that should be important to you.

Also, what is your Plan B? What if you don’t get admitted to UM as a transfer?

Right now you appear to be a student at UCF? You should learn to thrive where you are planted–it is a good skill to have perfected for adult life.

If I don’t get admitted to UM as a transfer, I would attend FSU in the Spring and probably the summer after, at that point i’ll have 60 credits and will probably be able to transfer to either UM or UF. Do you think I will get helpful answers if I ask UM admissions questions like where should I be going to school to be ready to transfer? I already asked them about transferring before, and they told me that coming from a community college doesn’t matter to them, and actually going to a university may better prepare me for their curriculum. They also told me having an AA degree doesn’t matter to them.
One thing I’m not sure of is whether or not having more credits is important or not. I’ll probably have 32 credits or so hen I apply, but will a student with 60 credits have a better chance at being admitted or is it more about gpa?

What will matter most is your grades, and the pattern of your classes taken. Look at the transfer information on the UM website for the answers to your specific questions, and if you do not find the answers there, email UM with specifics
