Okay, so... I told my high school to send my final transcript to UCI like a month ago (the deadline was 7/15). I thought everything would be fine and dandy. WRONG. So, on July something (it was later than 7/15, I admit :V), I check if UCI got my transcript. Nope, they didn't. Being the lazy idiot I am, I didn't do anything about it. I read that there's a sort of "grace period" until July 31st, anyway, so I was hoping my stuff would get there by then.

Now it's August. They still didn't receive my transcript. I call my high school, asking them what in Jeebus's name they did with it. They're like, "LOL, IDK. WE'LL SEND IT NOW." Eh, okay. I honestly didn't think that UCI would care that my transcript is a tad bit late (well, I guess 3 weeks is actually pretty long, haha...). Nope, I was wrong. They sent me an e-mail on August 9th: "CONGRATS, YOUR ADMISSION OFFER HAS BEEN WITHDRAWN BECAUSE YOU FAILED TO SEND THIS CRAP ON TIME."

Oh, great. I call the Admissions Office about it. The lady tells me that I screwed up big time. YEAH, THANKS. She also says that my only option is to send an appeal, somehow proving that I did ask my school to send the transcript before July 15th. Just how exactly do I do that? Ugh. Also, I kind of doubt they'll accept my appeal. I mean, it's a pretty stupid reason to withdraw my admission, but I made a pretty damn stupid mistake.

So... what do you guys think? Am I seriously screwed? Will UCI accept my appeal (which does not contain any "new and compelling information"; it's basically just me desperately begging to get back in, haha) or will I have to go to community college or something because I didn't send my final transcript by the due date? Somebody please reply! D: Also, to anyone who bothers with this: thanks for wasting your time reading this ugly, long post.

Ask your GC and/or high school principal to carry the torch for you. I would expect that they have the necessary connections to make this happen.

And yes be sure to be very very humble when you ask, and when you deal with UCI admissions. Apologize till you’re blue in the face. An attitude (regardless if it’s warranted or not) can easily derail you.

Believe me, I was shaking like hell when I first called the Admissions Office about this. Now I’m just kind of annoyed, though. But no matter how I look at this situation, it’s really my fault. DFLKSDJFKLSDJFfdgdfg. I feel like such an idiot. :|

Anyway, thanks for the reply. I guess I will bother my high school counselor and the principal just one last time… :D

I’m with Batllo. Instead of sitting at home typing on the computer go take care of this. Get a copy of your transcript. If you can’t get a ride to the UCI Admissions office then send it by overnight mail. Get the school to draft a letter saying you asked them to do this and they dropped the ball. Do this in person, not by phone.

The mistake in not sending your transcript wasn’t yours, but you already know that. What is your fault is your failure to do anything about it now.

Class of 11-er’s reading this: This is a good example of why you should follow up on stuff that’s REALLY important, like making sure your college gets transcripts. I’m sure the OP would agree that a quick phone call saying, “Hey, just wanted to make sure you have everything you need from me” would have saved alot of time and stress.
