I recieved the Wellesley Book Award this morning at an awards ceremony at my HS and was just wondering how much weight this bears on admissions to the actual college. (and has anyone else recieved this?)

(FYI it's an award given to "the student in the junior class who has shown exceptional character and a strong academic record while adding significant contributions to their class and community")

Oh, and attatched was a hand-written letter from an alum congratulating me and saying she hoped I chose Wellesley and to call her but I'm not sure if that means anything.

congratulations!!! I'm sure the book award itself will have a positive influence on admission, but the fact that you were good enough to win the award is what will get you in when you apply. Please do consider wellesley, it is an amazing opportunity. I'm going to attend this fall and am sooooo excited!

Godd luck with applying to college next year, it is an intense process

i too won the wellesley book award from my high school last year and i think it carried a lot of weight in the admissions process (early evaluation likely letter and acceptance). i seriously considered going to wellesley, but decided that the combined medical degree program i was accepted into was the better option for me.

It cant possible carry that much weight in the admissions process....I mean, it helps, but not that much at all........my friend got it junior year instead of me, and I got in, she got flat out rejected.......so, it doesnt hurt, but dont lose focus on what's important. good luck
