Wellesley College Pre-Med

Hello everyone! I am currently looking into doing my pre-med at Wellesley, is the pre-med program good? I am also looking into Johns Hopkins, which has a very competitive pre-med program. How many pre-med students end up going to med schools? Are there any examples of med schools they have gotten into?

Thanks!

Here’s an introduction to the premed program at Hopkins:

Here are the outcomes:

There is no pre-med major at Wellesley. You can major in anything, and as long as you have the required science courses, you can take the MCAT and apply to med school. Many med schools actually want some diversity in the UG degrees of their applicants, so if you study, say, English and also do well in science, you’ll be very attractive.

I feel like at Wellesley you’d get a lot more support for being pre-med than at a larger school like Hopkins (current stud at Wellesley).

At Wellesley they have a person whose job is to advise pre-meds. Support is very good, however, don’t expect much attention from the pre-med lady as a first-year student. She’s very busy with the seniors. During your first/second year, just concentrate on getting A’s in all your classes, especially the pre-med requirements. http://www.wellesley.edu/careereducation/connect/health-professions#AakR83SG81E3BHJ6.97

Agree with redpoodles, especially since soooo many people who enter thinking they are pre-med change their mind in a year. Get good grades, take science classes, and you will be in good stead to do pre med later, or whatever else you decide to do.
