How accurate is the financial aid estimate calculator for Wellesley College? For those who have done it, were there huge differences between what it estimated and what you actually received? I’m looking into Wellesley College but someone told me the estimate calculators were not very accurate.
Does your family have a simple situation, such as few assets and the parents are employees rather than self-employed?
Do you have a non-custodial parent?
Our financial situation is pretty bad. We’re making less than $25,000 for a family of 4. I don’t have a non-custodial parent. And we don’t have any extra assets. I was going to go to Questbridge for financial aid but Wellesley said to go directly to them instead because they say they have a generous financial aid package. I just wanted to make sure there wouldn’t be huge discrepancies between the estimate cost and actual cost once I get there. I’m thinking of applying for Early Decision but I don’t want to commit to the school if they won’t provide the financial aid they say they will and end up with a huge loan.
You didn’t do Questbridge because Wellesley told you not to, but you haven’t even applied to Wellesley yet?
You are NOT obligated to go to W if their aid pkg isn’t enough. ED doesn’t require you to attend if the FA isn’t enough. Don’t worry.
You couldn’t get a big loan anyway…no one would give you one.
Wellesley is supposed to have one of the best calculators out there. Other colleges are learning from them. When my daughter applied, colleges didn’t have NPC, but Wellesley gave a very comprehensive award.
