Parents, If your D was trying to decide between Wellesley & Kenyon what would you advise?

Does the daughter prefer to spend her college years in a (upscale) suburb of an urban area or in a small college town?

That's one major difference to consider (other than the obvious one of single sex vs. co-ed).

Both are fabulous schools, but there are certainly differences, the gender mix or lack of foremost of course. Kenyon is probably more "preppy" and more known for humanities than sciences. Wellesley is VERY strong in the sciences with many fellowship winners for study in the US and internationally. Kenyon is very small town, Wellesley is suburban Boston. Wellesley is, of course, female only, but offers cross registration and opportunities in performance groups with Brandeis and, I believe MIT, offer ample opportunities for interaction with men.

If your daughter has not visited both and can do so, I highly recommend it. The campus cultures are very different at each of the schools, I suspect one is a better "fit" than the other. Good luck and let us know what she chooses!

Thank you!
