<p>What are Wellesley's best subjects - what are the flagship departments? I'm thinking about doing an exchange program with the College, and I'd like to get some ideas on what to take to make the most out of my experience there.</p>
<p>Many of the science programs are excellent. Economics department is supposed to be among the strongest in the nation. Political Science is also fairly popular. Those are some of the commonly pursued and strong programs here.</p>
<p>And, if you're into this, the Philosophy department is small, but has some amazing professors. :D I can't help but promote my major. The program is among the top undergraduate Philosophy Programs as stated by the Philosophical Gourmet Report (pretty popular website for people in philosophy).</p>
<p>Pointed noted on the Philosophy Dept. I come from a school whose flagship departments are actually, Econ and PoliSci (Govy). So I'm actually looking for anything that's Literature-ish, Culture/Identity Studies-ish - something that's a hidden gem/strength of Wellesley's without necessarily being a flagship I guess (poor question on my part). Something that I can't really get here.</p>
<p>I haven't taken any courses in Women's Studies, but I've heard that it's a very interesting major here, and my friends who've taken classes in the department enjoy them a lot. I'm not sure how much of a strength Women's Studies is here, but considering that it's Wellesley, the department likely has a good reputation.</p>
<p>I'd advise to look at the college website, look at the departments that seem interesting, and see what kinds of courses are offered. Also look at the faculty list and their credentials. You may get a better idea of what they offer and an approximate reputation of the department. <p>When I spoke to current students (Eng majors) during my overnighter at Wellesley, I heard that the English dpt at Wellesley is really excellent.</p>

<p>I've been taking a look at POL2 (Comparative Politics) and Women's Studies. Any particular classes in general that you've liked? Or specific classes that you know about in those two areas I'm talking about?</p>
<p>I took POL2: 202 this semester and I personally really liked it and plan to take another POL2 class (207, Politics of Latin America) next semester. POL2 202 is an interesting class because it is team taught by three professors who each speak about their country of expertise (Britain, India and Brazil). I enjoyed it, but I would definitely say that you do not need it to do other classes in Comparative Politics (I personally found it interesting in its own right!).</p>
