The dream ends here, I suppose.
I have mediocre grades (88-89% average) and my SSAT scores were horrendous (77%ile overall [40%ile in math]), and I have a sickening feeling that this just isn't gonna pan out for me, so instead of another heartbreaking "learning experience", I'm just gonna stop this mad train before it gets any father. Oh well. C'est la vie.
You're all so bright! You have what it takes! Go out there and get 'em!

Don’t give up yet! You still have time to improve your grades, and you can still retest the SSAT in Dec and Jan.

Ok, I have no idea why youwould just quit so easily like this, but if I were you, I would take the SSAT again, and get your grades up. This is one of many obstacles you will hit down the road when applying, and you definitely shouldnt quit so easily like this.
You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take- Wayne Gretsky(sp?)

Chin up Historygeek40 - my DD’s stats were very similar to yours including your math score (hers was actually a little worse), she did not play a sport or participate in an art offered at most schools and she is happily ensconced at a school with an acceptance rate under 30%. You can still do this!

Chin up. Apply to several schools that aren’t in the upper quintile most difficult schools to get into on earth. Keep going, even during the days you don’t belive in yourself.

If you apply and get rejected, the answer is no.
If you don’t apply, the answer is no

The only way to get a yes is to put yourself out there, to be rejected. It’s the best lesson anyone can learn- rejection will not kill you, but not opening yourself up to risk and opportunities, in the long run, will kill your spirit. Better to hear a thousand no’s on your way to the yes that will change your life, than to never ask at all.

Celebrate your no’s. I do a happy dance when I get a no, because I understand now that you just have to go through a certain amount of them. The more no’s you are OK getting, the more amazing your life is going to be.

Embrace the no. Accept some people will tell you no. Do it anyway. Live that way and you’ll have the most amazing life imaginable.

I think OP’s made the decision to go through with the process.
