We're 40 not 48 US News blunder...plus other Rankings

As reported by the California Aggie…UC Davis fell in rankings because of a mistake.
"Ninety-eight percent of UCD’s faculty consists of professors or lecturers possessing professional, postdoctoral or master’s degrees, but the Student Affairs Research and Information department reported the university to have 64 percent of faculty carrying such degrees.

As a result, UCD plummeted 131 ranks in faculty resources, resulting in the overall six-rank drop. The university also dropped from 11th to 14th in the U.S. News top public universities report."

In actuality we moved to 40 according to the article

-Check out the Washington Monthly rankings…I quite frankly like their system better than US News. They rank Davis 17th in the Nation Public and Private. http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/features/2005/0509.collegeguide.html

-“Also, the Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s Institute for Higher Education compiled a list of top universities in the world, where UCD placed 41st.” (From Cal Aggie Article)

So guys essentially remember to spread the work especially on CC of where UC Davis places. When students are making their decisions for colleges come April let’s all get on those boards and remind them where Davis actually places.

GO AGS! A university on the rise! Not only academically…but SOCIALLY and ATHLETICALLY.

I love ya GA. <3

Ill try to remember to come on to check up next year..

Technically it was the Student Affairs and Research office's error ;) I still think the rankings don't matter that much, but we should always be above UCI and UCSB :)

wow....
next yr should be better ;)
but really..this is a good news AND a bad news..
it's good to know that this was an error..but shouldnt have made this error..hmmm

All you AGGIES out there.......don't forget to go to the football game on September 17th at Stanford(the fake farm) for the battle of the farms and support the blue and gold. Yep, not only are we a top-notch academic institution, we are only one of three UCs(Cal and UCLA are the others) with a football team! UCD......35 straight winning football seasons and counting! Go AGS!

I'm afraid I'm stuck here in the Southland...
Tell ya what though... I'll make it to the Basketball game in the winter.

Yea, the problem is it starts a week before move in day. Those of us coming up from socal are probably not going to be able to make it.

I SOOOO wish I could tho man, lemme tell ya..

I might make it since I'm going to visit Stanford in September

That eliminated my small doubts of chosing Davis over SB.

GO AGS! STILL IMPROVING STRONG!

where does it say UCDavis is not 48 and 40. is the #40 rankings simply speculation or has this been communicated by USnews to UCdavis. I think #48 ranking make sense because UCSC has higher SATs than UCDavis.

I think UCSC is rank a little under rated.
