Were/Are you forced to do an activity which later became an EC for you?

Easy enough question, did your parent or guardian ever make you do some kind of activity which you weren't completely interested in? Whether it was a sport, volunteering, job, etc, were you made to do something?

Alternativley, did your parents ever encourage you or ask you if you wanted to do something? "Do you want to learn to play an instrument?", if you didn't know what an instrument was, "Do you want to play baseball", etc?

And then on that note, did you parents make you do the hardest most rigorous class at your school? Full IB, as many APs as you could, running start, etc.

And just all in all, is there anything you were forced to do because of your authority figure which later impacted you for college applications?

Parents, you can answer too if you did any of this.

My parents actively encouraged me to not take challenging classes, not do out-of-school activities, and not worry about getting anywhere other than a low tier state school.

Asian parents (well, my mom at least) are big on this. First it was Chinese school, then it was piano, then it was Tae-Kwon-Do…

My parents never pushed me but they never discouraged me from taking APs.

I was never really pushed to do anything…things just went their way.
