Were transfer students supposed to send essays?

Binghamton University - Undergraduate Admissions - Transfer Applicant Step by Step Instructions

Looking through their checklist, I didn't see anything about sending an essay. Was this required? I didn't send one because I didn't want to send unnecessary information. Is it possible that this will hurt me? I suppose it isn't too late to send one as the deadline is in March but they already have my transcripts.

When you applied, I think you should have had to write an essay through the Common App or the SUNY App. You can always contact the admissions office at 607.777.2171 to double check with them.

Yes you had to submit an essay. I chose to fill out the common application which an essay was included in it. As far as the SUNY app I remember reading something mentioning that you would have to send in an additional essay in that situation.

Be sure to get on that quickly :S, although I would think they will simply keep your application as “incomplete,” so don’t fear being rejected because of it. Just get it in! :)

I don’t think it was required because I checked the SUNY app and there was no supplement for Binghamton. I will give them a call on Monday.

It wouldn’t make sense they require it from one app and not the other. Its a required and very significant piece of your admissions package.

Well it may be because the common app is for many schools.

“Only Decker School of Nursing applicants must complete and submit Binghamton’s online Supplemental Application Form”

It says that on the page in my OP. I will give them a call on Monday.

is not for transfer students. I applied as OOS (still awaiting my acceptance or not) and It said nothing of sending as essay. I applied their and Albany, got accepted to Albany and I had to fill supplemental app. info through their school website which they informed me of. I think that Bing. looks strictly at your transcripts do decide I guess. I hope I get in, just to have a second option although Im leaning towards Albany.

Yeah I just called and they said it isn’t required. All of my materials are in so I just have to wait for a decision.

well, good luck. I hope I get my letter soon, need to start figuring out where to attend to, can only do that once I know where Im accepted too.

Passing your classes isn’t “required” either, but it sure helps. :S
