Wesleyan Applicants Class of 2023 Discussion

@notabunny Someone called today morning
They started another tread on cc

Does anyone know what a “waitlisted” from ED2 round means? Had no idea this was even possible. Does anyone have any insight/info in this? Does that mean the ED student is then put into the regular pool to be evaluated with them? Or that their application is held till spring when they see how numbers pan out? TIA~

@dogwood18 that’s quite odd. I think it means till the spring bc if it was in the rd pool then I feel like it would be deferred. But I could be very wrong. Good job tho!! I didn’t get in at all but I really hope it works out for you!!

I could be wrong, but I believe they generally make final decisions with ED 2, so I’m pretty sure that’s a regular waitlist. Also congrats to whoever was accepted!
-Sincerely someone who was rejected :frowning:

Thanks @calitoeast and @lostbuthopeful. We’re going to call today and try to get some clarifications (I’m a parent)- it was definitely an unexpected outcome as we figured ED2 would be a straight up yes or no. I think it means file has been fully reviewed and could possibly “yes” if they have space towards the end. We’re not considering it likely. Good luck to you both!

Of those of you that were rejected ED2, were any of you rolled over from ED1 and they gave you the option of trying during ED2?

I am asking because I have heard of a few cases of students that were given this option, having applied ED1 and not making that original cut. I feel like giving these students a second chance at ED2 and then rejecting them was a selfish and immoral thing for admissions to do. I’m actually shocked. These students figured they had a strong chance at ED2 and therefore didn’t apply to a different top choice ED2, and now they are facing the odds of RD everywhere else and we all know that many qualified kids don’t make the cut during RD because so many spots were given away to the ED applicants. I’m very disappointed in how this all rolled out this year.

I personally didn’t do early decision 1 anywhere. I understand the decision they made, as college admissions can be very unpredictable, but I’m still disappointed. I guess I’ll have to see where RD takes me.

Very curious about the emails. Does anyone have any info?

@Iammoose what emails are you referring to?

Received a few emails from admissions. One that ended with “you are ready. You are on your way, And we are just as excited as you are to see who you become.”

@Iammoose Same. I received a recent one on Feburary 20th telling me about their study abroad opportunities. So a total of 5 or 6 informative emails from them but some other applicants received those emails as well so I don’t know if we can attach any meaning to the emails.

@collegemomjam I did not ED1 anywhere (i was planning on vassar, but backed out bc of test scores) But that’s a good point! Didn’t realize you could be deferred into another binding agreement. I really hope they didn’t do that :frowning:

When are the results supposed to come?

RD results are due by the end of the month – nothing more official than that. Last year it was 3/24.

Does anyone have the CSS date change? My S has CSS dated 1/29, we submitted since 12/13.

I just got an early notification of RD acceptance an hour ago!!! So excited (:

@llewxam what’s that? Do you apply for specific programs?

@Zeylanite I did not. The letter reads “You are among the first group of students to be notified of your Regular Decision acceptance. Because we feel that you have so much to add and contribute to the Wesleyan community…”

i applied RD, but i never got an email with a portal. every other school i applied to sent me a link to a portal where i will be able to see my admissions decision. does everyone else have a portal??

also, does anyone know when the notification dates are
