West Campus Meal Plans

Next year I will be living in one of the smaller houses near West Campus that is still affiliated with West, therefore forcing me into one of the meal plans. All of the West meal plans are unlimited meals, which is pretty annoying because there is no way I will eat enough meals to make the meal plan worth it, and I will not be living in a building with the dining hall connected. Last year I used BRBs more than anything. But I have accepted my fate and understand that my destiny is to possess unlimited meals.

From what I can tell, the three West meal plans are exactly the same and only differ in number of BRBs. However, BRBs can just be added on throughout the year if you run out. So, for anyone who has had one of these meal plans, is there any advantage in having one over the other? What makes the most sense to me is to enroll in one of the less expensive plans and just add BRBs once I run out. The House Traditional plan seems to save you $2 for some reason (which then gets added back on in the House Golden plan). I feel like Cornell is tricking me somehow, but my instinct is to go for House Traditional (with 400 BRBs) and add more if I run out. But if anyone found another difference/advantage/disadvantage among the plans, please let me know.

Here is the link to the plans for reference: http://living.sas.cornell.edu/dine/mealplans/house-meal-plans.cfm

I lived on West last year and I used the 300 BRB plan, it worked well. I ran out around finals so I added some back, just use the meal plan as much as possible.

@bilnythesciguy Thanks, Bill; I’m a big fan of your work.

Thanks for making this thread, I think I’m going to go with House Choice as well!
