West Point Admission

Hi, i'm currently a junior at Hershey and its that time to start looking at colleges. There has always been one college that I have been looking at since 8th grade, USMA. I am definately going to apply and doing a college visit very soon, but I just want to see some other feed back if I have a chance at getting admission to the school, prep school, and also SLS. Currently my weighted GPA is a 3.7 and I have done cross country, indoor track (in season now), and outdoor track throughout my freshman, sophmore, and junior year. I am trying to take challenging courses such as AP US History (currently), Honors Civics, Honors english and pre-calculus. My counselor recommended me to do some community service, so I put in 30 hours at the Penn State Medical Center. I am also taking my ASVAP soon. In three weeks, I will be taking my SAT and soon after that the ACT. Since I am very interested in joining the military, I plan on applying to the USGCA and also USAFA, but West Point is my number one option for sure. If there is anything that I can do to increase my chances of being accepted into SLS, and also the school please leave me feedback. Thanks so much!

Definitely join some clubs and other extracurricular activities, and get leadership positions in them. I attended SLE this past summer and it was a great experience. I am currently a USMA candidate for the class of 2019 in the top 10% of the applicant pool and if you need any help or have questions feel free to message me!

I forgot to mention, I am currently in Spanish Club, SADD (sudents against destructive driving), and also fitness club. Unfortunately I am not a head leader of any of these clubs such as president, but I am highly active in them. Is there anything else I can do to increase my odds? One more question. I am taking my SAT January 21st and SLS opens early January. Would it still be ok if I applied just alittle behind the opening date for the SLS program? Thanks!

Yeah I applied to the West Point and Naval Academy seminars in February/March and was accepted for both!

JPruneski8, I was just curious, but was your candidate profile categorized under some status that recognizes your placement in the top %10. I know there are admissible, competitive, etc., so I was wondering if you had a specific status that your field force officer had possibly mentioned to you. Thanks!
