West Point admissions age

"(a) To be eligible for admission to the Academy a candidate must be at least 17 years of age and must not have passed his twenty-third birthday on July 1 of the year in which he enters the Academy."

Because I skipped a grade, I'll be 16 until November of my senior year. I'll turn 17 in November 2015 when I'm a senior. Does an applicant have to be 17 in order to START the Candidate Questionnaire? That seems like the first part of the application process.

you just have to be 17 on R-Day. you can start your application during junior year and age doesn’t even matter. also, if you are not 17 on R-Day, you can even get a waiver to get around the system. If you want it, you’ll get it.
