Does anyone have information on this school?

they burn couches

they burn furniture in the streets even when their teams win!

I have been to WVU many times. What do you want to know? Great new rec center, spread out campus. They have a little "train/bus/car" thing that has wheels and rides around on an over-head track which the students take from the downtown to the newer campus.

I have met lots of engineers there, and they seem like engineering students anywhere, with a preponderance of southern type accents.

Lots of girls in skimpy clothing and boys with their hats on backwards.

Alums include a who's who in IT. Ray Lane, former President of Oracle and currently a principal in Kleiner Perkins (VC firm that backed a few start-ups that you might have heard of including Google and Amazon. John Chambers, CEO of Cisco Systems.

A typical, big party school in a small college town.
It is about less than one and half hour drive from Pittsburgh.

extremely big party school... lots of people from western maryland and western pa... big on sports.. but probably the best school in WV

agree with the other posters -- big party school

Which school is stronger academically...Washington State University or West Virginia University?

Or are they about equal?

^^^Bump^^^

Wsu...........................................

WSU, definitely.

Who's stronger? Any school not named WVU. :P There are one or two majors where WVU is ok to good (Forensics is one) but for the most part they're just a party school. WSU blows them away. If you're not in-state or from Maryland or Pennsylvania (basically in-state to them anyhow, I guess) I'd go elsewhere. Very hilly campus.

All I know about WVU is...

Steve Slaton and Pat White ROCK.

And that's all anyone there knows too. :P

I've got friends there, so I like giving them a hard time.

WVU isn't as terrible as everyone's making it sound, but it definitely isn't known for its academics. Most of their OOS students are OSU/Pitt/PSU/Maryland rejects, but they do have some strong programs.
