<p>My son does not want to go to the University of Washington because of the location and instead wants to go to Western Washington University. I know U Dub has a good reputation nationally. Do you think a degree from Western Washington University is much less valued by employers or grad schools?</p>
<p>It depends on what he wants to do for a career. If he wants to teach or do something in human services, it’s the place to be. However, if he wants to be an engineer or a big shot businessman, he should probably go elsewhere.</p>

<p>What’s the reputation of the science program and ** degrees? Especially, geology and environmental science - my son wants a solid geology undergraduate program in a not-huge university with more emphasis on environmental science and chemistry than petroleum and/or earthquake physics.</p>
<p>The Huxley Environmental school has a very strong reputation locally.</p>
