Wharton Admissions

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any idea what my chances might be for Wharton. I am applying for regular admissions and it is the only Ivy League that I am applying to. My grades are above average, but they are not as amazing as most applicants. Here are my stats in a nutshell:

GPA:
Weighted- 4.66
Unweighted- 3.83

CLASS RANK:
49/491 (just barely in the top 10%)

SAT:
Math- 710
Writing- 710
Reading Comp-670

SAT II:
French- 670
U.S. History- 700
Spanish- 800

AP:
Environmental Science- 4
Calc BC (and AB subscore)- 4
U.S. History- 4

I am currently taking AP French, AP U.S. Gov & Politics, AP Psychology, and AP Statistics

EC's:
Mainly church-related (volunteer youth minister and assistant to the children's choir)
The only school club that I have been very involved with is Young Democrats Association

I know that I am below the average Wharton student. HOWEVER, I have two things that I hope will help me (please tell me if I am just imagining this or if it actually will help).

1) I am Hispanic. I didn't think this would be much of an advantage but I've had people tell me that it is.

2) I own my own business. I sell/consign jewelry at 3 different stores and I sell jewelry on my own website (<a href="http://www.artwearbynatis.com">www.artwearbynatis.com</a>). **This is really the main thing. It is the main topic of my essay and I really hope that this is something that will make me stand out from other applicants and hopefully it will make up for my below-average grades/SAT's.

All opinions good or bad would be great! Thank you so much :)

yeah you might have a decent chance with your hispanic status and jewelry stuff, you would have probably been better off EDing, but oh well.

Oh and you might want to watch out posting that link, a person can easily figure out your real name from that site, just a word of warning, there are some really sketchy people out on the internet.

You’ve got the business Ec and your race, aside from that you are very below average for Wharton (no offense). Wharton admits about 200 kids per year, this year more students are applying than in any other year. It’s a rough ride, you’d need some beautiful writing ideas. No matter what you’ve done, there are people doing the same thing. I don’t know about all of the applicants, but owning your own business (in my case I started a llc for special Ed advocacy) seems to be common nowadays. I give you a 20% chance at admission. (brutally honest, don’t take it personally) but I’ve seen some spectacular Wharton applicants that make you and I look like we wouldn’t even be fit for state schools.

admits 200 kids per year? Are you high?

^ We can also tell from his other posts that he’s grossly misinformed. I’d recommend the OP to completely ignore his post.

I apologize, 600 kids a year, I was reading the wrong school, 200 is mccombs honors program.

Everything is ok, it’s really only your test scores that are worrying… I.e the math… can you retake that (since you’re RDing?) That would be very prudent…
