Wharton ED acceptance rate?

I searched up Wharton ED acceptance rate and the only results were for the actual University (UPenn) or Wharton’s RD acceptance rates. Anyone know Wharton ED acceptance rate?

AND ALSO… anyone know if Wharton undergrad school has the same acceptance rate as the graduate school?

1a. There are no separate acceptance rates for Wharton.
1b. The application pools/requirements etc. for Wharton undergrad and grad are very different. It is safe to assume that their acceptance rates will not be the same.

  1. YOU ARE IN 8TH GRADE. PLEASE STOP. You have no idea whatsoever if you will qualify for Penn undergrad 4+years down the road. You have no HS GPA, no standardized tests, no HS ECs etc. You have even less of an idea of if you will be a viable candidate for Wharton grad school which is 7+ years down the road. Recognize that people who come to this forum are volunteers coming to try and help people through the college application process. By flooding the forum with questions when you are in 8th grade (that you will likely find the answer to on your own when the time comes) you risk frustrating/alienating posters before they would be most valuable to you (junior/senior year of HS when you are actually going through the application process).

@happy1 um. sorry? sorry that I’m curious about college and I’m setting a path for myself. And how exactly am I alienating posters? I don’t really think that asking questions on a site THAT’S MADE FOR IT frustrates anyone. They automatically know that risk when they enter the site. If they are stupid enough to get mad at a question, then I think they should stay off the site. I am doing nothing wrong, I am asking questions about college. “talk.collegeconfidential.com” I think the name should give you a pretty evident clue of what the site is about.

You are alienating posters (like myself) who are spending time and energy answering questions for a 13/14 year old who has no idea at all if he/she will be a viable candidate for Penn. In addition many of these questions can be found on the college’s website and/or will be obvious once it comes time to actually apply to college. IMO this forum is best suited for people in the application process, not middle school students.

And honestly there is no need for snark on your part. Be appreciative that people genuinely want to help you.

Setting a path is wonderful. But It is WAY TO EARLY to think about specific colleges (especially the hyper-competitive ones like Penn) and it is WAY WAY WAY TOO EARLY to think about going to Wharton grad school.

You need to recognize that middle school and HS should be experiences in and of themselves-- times of learning and growth and maturity – these are not just a college prep experiences. Your focus should be on getting the most out of where you are now.

It is good to take school seriously and know that college will be on your horizon, but it is simply too early to start asking about specific colleges. I would highly recommend that you get off of CC until your junior year (except for the HS life forum when you are in HS). For the next few years you should focus on:
–Working hard, learning, and doing as well as you can in the most challenging curriculum you can manage.
–When the time comes study for standardized tests.
–Getting involved in activities you care about and work towards making meaningful contributions to those activities.
–Enjoying spending time with your family and friends.

In addition, setting up Penn as your dream school when you are in 8th grade is a dangerous proposition. The people I have seen over the years who are most likely to get hurt by the college admission process are the ones who focus on one or two hyper-competitive schools and then don’t get in. When the time comes (junior year) your focus should not be on Penn but should be on creating a solid college list that includes reach, match, and safety schools that appear affordable (find out your parents’ budget and run the net price calculator for each school) and that you would be happy to attend.

Keep posting if you like…I can’t stop you. But FWIW I’m a Wharton grad and I’m coming close to the point where I am going to put you on “ignore” status so I won’t see future posts and won’t answer future questions.

@happy1 1) No one is forcing you to answer my questions.
2) I understand that’s it’s kind of early but I am almost in High School, and starting OK freshman year does not satisfy me in the slightest.
3) “Early” is subjective. I can say that it is not early to start. You are saying it is.
4) I find it kind of offensive that you have to put me on the “ignore” status when you can just rather calm down, genuinely ignore me, or support me (which I evidently prefer).
5) UPenn isn’t my “dream school.” My dad went there, which is why I am so interested in it. I obviously know that I might get accepted or rejected. And obviously, I am going to apply to way more schools. My goal is “GREAT college.” Not Penn. Not Harvard. Not MIT. Not any school in particular. The main reason I ask Penn related questions is 1) it has the number 1 business school in the world. 2) A great SEAS (top 20 I believe.) 3) My dad went to graduate school at Wharton.

In closing, I would rather you not give me a lecture about how planning ahead is too “early” for me. If you choose to utterly ignore me, for whatever reason, you having a bad temper, having a bad day, etc. that’s your choice and your decision. If you choose to not ignore me, I appreciate it.

I am putting you on ignore status as of right now. Your rudeness is (I hope) reflective of your immaturity. I will not see any more of your posts so please do not reply to me.

I know you won’t see this but WHAT? My immaturity? Are you kidding me? Last time I checked, I was minding my own business, I asked a question about Penn and you reply with a whole lecture, telling me to stop planning ahead as if you were a person that can actually make me do that. You go to Wharton, as a graduate student, and you are here to argue with an 8th grader instead of focusing on your studies. I think you are the immature one.

Hey OP, you punch way above your weight (and age) in arguing with your elders. As a teacher at Wharton, I’d say you’re not out of line in asking such questions … I’ll attempt to answer.

The blended Class of 2024 ED admit rate for all four Penn undergrad schools was 19.7%. The blended Class of 2023 overall admit rate for all four schools was 7.44%, while the ED rate was 18%.

As for Wharton undergrad admission rates, there seems to be no reliable info online; the Poets & Quants website lists it as 8% (no date given), but I think we can assume the Wharton admit rates are not higher than Penn’s blended rates. In a nutshell, if you are competitive for Wharton, you’d probably be competitive for admission to any college in the U.S.

Penn’s Class of 2023 blended yield (the percentage of admittees who attend, a measure of relative exclusivity) was 70% which is very high. Harvard and Stanford had the best yields nationwide at 82-83%.

As for legacy status, word is that Penn counts grad school attendance of parent(s) for legacy status, so it would seem you are a legacy. Word is also that legacy status approximately doubles your chance of ED admission, but doesn’t count in RD. This policy seems odd given the current Penn admissions numbers and may well change by the time you apply. Also, if you’ve been following the news you know there’s a nationwide movement to stop giving legacies preference in elite college admissions.

GL to you and don’t miss out on being a kid and having fun as you prepare for college and adulthood.

@Morningsider Thanks! I won’t miss out!

And the definitive answer was given: Penn does not report ED acceptance rate by college.
