hi,
I really want to apply to wharton ed next year and I had a few questions about it. First, does it make it look like you are more interested in Penn if you do their app instead of the Common app and so would it give you an advantage? Also, for the SAT II's, I know I would do better in Math IC than Math IIC so would it be bad if I just took Math IC instead and what other SAT II would you recommend since Wharton needs only two, Literature or a history one? Lastly, for the interview process, is it necessary to get an interview and contact your reginoal rep because I have read some of the posts on here and they say a regional rep can do nothing for you so basically is that true?

Check both common and their app to see which essay's you think you can do the best on. Then pick that app. As for SAT's, pick what you can score highest on. It really does not matter as long as your scores are good and the essays are good. However, this assumes you have all the other stuff, grades, EC, recommendations, etc.

My S graduated from the MT (dual degree Wharton & Engineering) program at U of P some time ago. He never had an interview at Penn. I think as other places on cc have said interviews are becoming less important and dependent on the availability of alums. I would bet (but do not know) that if you follow the info given on iterviews on CC you would be fine should they contact you. But if they do not, I would not read anything into it.

As an aside, Wharton kids are generally Type A aggressive, so if your are not one, you would probably find another part of the Univ more to your liking. If you are, then you will need to hit the ground running.

The common app has all the same essays that are on the Penn app (unless they change stuff next year) so it doesn't matter which one you do, unless you don't do the "optional" essays on the common application.

The MathIIC curve is actually a lot nicer than the IC curve and I have friends who scored higher on IIC (you can get like 5 wrong and still get an 800). If I were you I'd take the two SATIIs you can score highest on. 800s look best.

There are two types of interviews: legacy and alumni. Legacy interviews are guaranteed (if you are a legacy) if you can make the trip to Philly. Alumni interviews are for everyone but randomly assigned on a basis of how many alums volunteer to conduct them.
