Wharton Summer program

Could anybody who attended, or knows information about the Leadership in the Business World summer program at Wharton for rising seniors give me any information, such as what they look for in a candidate besides SAT scores. Also, if you attended what were you stats when you attended. And if you do attend, does it help you chances at being admitted to the college?

i know someone that did the wharton summer program, applied early, and got in. i dont know any of her stats tho. but i think that honestly doing any sort of summer program immensely helps your chances...but why would you wanna be admitted to the college if you were invited into whartons program? and any juniors reading these boards -- i highly recommend precollege. summer at penn = awesome

Thanks. I wanna go to the college, but wharton for graduate school. Do you think if I major in business it will look like i'm trying to use the college as a backdoor to get into wharton? If i do major in something else, could i still get into business, and go to the graduate school?

i went to LBW this year and although it was an amazing experience, i can't say that it helped with admissions much. while you're there, they market wharton ed to you so much. however, only 6 or so of LBWers actually got in early. most just got deferred. LBW also probably won't help you that much with the college either since it's so focused on wharton. soo if u want to go to the college, save ur $4000 and do something else.

I actually attended LBW two years ago. I believe that there are close to twenty kids that go here now from my year. Realize that some of the kids did not even apply, which makes the percentage of kids that applied and got in quite excellent. I believe that LBW is an unbelievable experience not because it guarentees you a spot into Wharton, but because you get to learn from and meet some of the most amazing business people in and around Philadelphia. Also, since many people sitting in the admissions room will be helping out with the program it is a great time to make good impressions.

What stats do u need to get in LBW? Im starting an FBLA chapter at my school with a friend and I will probably end up being president. Will this help a lot? I have a good schedule and ec's and stuff. And how competitive is it? If i get in, am i basically guarnenteed wharton ed? Cuz im just weighing different alternatives for the summer. I dont wanna apply to something that is impossible for me to get in and just basically sit around and not do much during the summer. LBW seems exciting, I just wanna make sure that im not wasting an application, because if i dont get in, it will be too late for all the other programs that I am considering for my summer. BTW, im a junior. Does anyone have any ideas on what i should do and how the program is?

Tennispro, did you actually read my post right before yours?

how about LEAD?

I was not in LEAD. I have a few friends that did LEAD that also were RTAs and a lot of there kids did get into Penn Early Decision this year. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

tennispro-where are you from? it's awesome that you're starting a FBLA chapter! i'm a ntl VP for the organization; if you ever need anything, let me know if i can help you

i applied. didnt get in..annoying that a summer program is this selective! lol and im applying here RD... well see what happens.

LEAD is the shizzle - 6 out of 6 kids who applied ED from LEAD got in this yr...you get to go to goldman sachs in NYC, credit suisse, get finance lectures from actual wahrton professors...i must say it was the best month of my life I ever spent...plus it was only 700 bucks w00t!

ethio-I know of a LEAD person who applied ED and did not get in. However, this student did LEAD at another college and later decided that Wharton was the target school for ED. My point is that if you get into LEAD, you should plan to apply to the school where you do the LEAD summer....otherwise you might not get the desired result.

Are u national vp like in there is only one for the whole nation? Thats pretty cool. Are u into business a lot? I love business. In fact, I love reading books on business, like i read em every day at night! I think im addicted lol, if theres such a thing. Anyways, thats sweet, ur vp. Im not really sure how the fbla chapter is supposed to be run. I looked on the website but im still not sure of the logistics. Im starting it up with another kid who loves business too. I think hes applying to u of m's undergrad business program. I love wharton cuz its soo cool. I know a couple people who went there and I admire them a lot. Anyways, could you briefly explain how im supposed to run it? I know a lot of kids at my school want to go into business, and they think its a good idea that im starting it, but I really am looking for help right now. Any ideas?
