hello! im looking at many schools that cater to hopeful pre-meds that aren't Ivy League. Can anyone tell me about life at F&M? How good is their pre-med program?

I am attending F&M in the fall as a pre-med student, and while I can’t offer you much information about the program yet, I can tell you why I chose F&M for pre0med over similar LACs in the area:

First and foremost, the science facilities are gorgeous! Top of the line. I haven’t seen a single one better throughout my college search. I plan on majoring in biology, so these facilities were very important to me in my search. Visit the campus if you haven’t already. You have to see this building for yourself. Very, very impressive.

I have also gotten the chance to speak with a few of the biology professors, and they have been very helpful. One professor gave me a tour of his lab while he was doing genetic research and explained his experiments. He was very welcoming and answered many of my questions via e-mail after my visit.

The research is another reason I chose F&M. The school puts a very large emphasis on research, and it seems as if there are numerous opportunities available to the students. The campus’ proximity to the Amish community makes it ideal for genetic research especially. The school is associated with the Clinic for Special Children in Strasburg, PA, which deals with inherited disorders in Amish and Mennonite children.

Besides the science aspects, the admissions staff has been incredibly helpful throughout the entire process and the campus is really nice. I can’t wait to attend!

Good luck in your search! Hope this helps a little.
