I got waitlisted to University of Michigan. I applied to the College of Engineering. I really want to go to this college. I put myself on the waitlist.
-What are my chances of getting in?
-Will I be able to put myself on the waitlist for a different college like Liberal Arts?
-Also I got into Berkley. So if I accept the admission to Berkley, can I still go to U of M if I get in through the waitlist.
-Can I also put myself on the waitlist for MIT at the sametime

no one can accurately tell you the chance of getting off the waitlist. it depends on how many admitted students accept the offer and how many don’t, creating more room for waitlistees to move up. you can put your name on other colleges/university waitlists. you can deposit at berkeley, then if accepted to mich later, accept their offer of admission. but you just lose the couple hundred dollars you deposited at Cal.

I would take berkeley anyday and forget UM entirely. Berkeley engineering program is superior. I don’t understand why you are still waiting for UM, to be waitlisted at MIT should be better.

If money is no object, then go to Berkeley.

If money is a concern and you’re OOS for UMich, then you likely wouldn’t get a great FA package from them anyway even if you came off their waitlist.

Mom2colledekids , how do you get FA from michigan if you came off the waitlist bacause i heard they dont offer any money last minute - they run out of their funds. do we have to apply after you are off the waitlist ? my son is oos.

At this point it is all about yield… May not be a bad idea to call admissions and just ask some basic questions about if they are going to the waitlist or not.
