What are meal points?

I signed up for 19-Meal Option + $125.00 in Meal Points per quarter option today.

I still don’t understand what Meal Points are. Is it like $125 I can spend on extra food on campus?

Is the 19 meal option only for Los Olivos Commons, while the Meal Points can be used only on other eateries? How many places are there to eat at CPP campus? So I have 19 meals and $125 I can spend on eating stuff?

Also what are bronco bucks? Is that the same as meal points?

I believe meal points are points accumulated over how much food you eat. The more food you eat, the more points you accumulate. I believe at the end of each quarter the top10 students with the most points wins cash prize. The meal points are very competitive in the dorms, it’s hard not to get fat.

Thats a ridiculous competition lol. You can already count me out…

No meal points is not a competition. That’s ridiculous.

What are meal points?
Meal points are equivalent to money and depending on your meal plan, an amount is allocated on your Bronco Access Card (Cal Poly ID card) each quarter. Each meal point is equivalent to a dollar and is used to purchase food in any of the dining establishments or convenience stores on campus and may also be used at the Farm Store. Meal Points may not be used for books or other non-food items.

The traditional Residence Halls have a choice of the 19, 14 or 10 meals a week plan, taken at Los Olivos Dining Hall. These plans include $125 in meal points that may be used at other food venues on campus or the Farm Store.
