I am graduating early in November of 2016 and will be attending college in Spring 2017 session. I was wondering what my chance are if I have a gpa of 3.98 and an ACT of 24. I want to study Pre-Medicine. I will also graduate with valedictorian honors even though I am leaving early. I would also like to hear of experiences at the University of Arizona. Thanks for everyones help.
Anyone?
I would take the ACT again, or maybe try the SAT (many students do notably better on one format or the other). Try a sample SAT and compare the results. Regardless of format, practice with on-line materials or a book.
Is your GPA weighted or unweighted?
I would also check about scholarship/financial aid availability for January admits. At some universities, there is one major funding cycle (for fall admits) and aid might be more scarce if you’re not part of that entering cohort.
It is unweighted.
The admission requirements are set out in detail here: https://admissions.arizona.edu/freshmen/entrance-requirements-and-guidelines
The net price calculator is here, and should help you estimate scholarship eligibility: https://financialaid.arizona.edu/freshmen/net-price-calculator
Getting in will be a shoo in for you. 3.25 GPA and 24 ACT gets you an automatic 2000 per year scholarship. If you decide to retake it, 27 will get you 6000 per year and 29 will get you 8000. There are other scholarships available that you have to apply for, and I think you have a good chance since you’re valedictorian. Also, you get full tuition if you are a national merit semifinalist.
As for experiences, everyone I know who goes here loves it! Although UA isn’t prestigious or anything, it has really great classes and programs. I’m still in high school myself, but I know a lot of alumni from my school who go there and my dad is a pharmacy prof.
