Currently my GPA is at a 3.2, but my school weighs my GPA way out of your favor to look more competitive. Just to give you an idea a 90% is a 3.5. So in terms of percent my GPA is basically a high B, around 86%-88%. However, my freshman year totally sucked and I got a 2.95, but my second semester junior year was a 3.8. My low GPA Freshman can be given to the fact that I switched schools mid way, and had a very hard time socially and was not too happy. My GPA has been on an upward trend, which I understand is something colleges like to see. I have taken the ACT once and got a 28, with a 31 in math. I'm taking it again soon and have been getting from 30-31 on practice tests now, so I expect to get a score similar to that. Additionally I have been a Varsity Athlete for 3 years, and will be one next year. I have taken AP US History and got a 95% this semester. In my senior year I am making a point not to slack off, as I am taking AP Calc AB, AP Gov't and Econ, AP Chem, and AP Spanish IV. I hope to do very well with all of my AP classes next year. And finally this summer I will tutoring poorer children for no cost for service hours.
I feel like my GPA will drag me down in terms of college acceptance and I want to make sure that doesn't happen. My first choice is UCLA, with my other top choices being Tulane University, UCSB, Babson College, and Occidental. What do you think about my odds getting in to each of those? Oh and lastly my family had Korean exchange whom we sent to ULCA, and I was wondering if that mattered at all in applications. Thanks.
