I would definitely try to take the SAT or ACT again. Your GPA is good and around the range they want, and I do think your volunteering will help you. However, Fordham weighs standardized tests more than ECs, so if at all possible, try to raise it a bit…even if to 1700. The low end of Fordham’s accepted SAT scores are ~1750. Otherwise your chances sound pretty good :)

Many factors go into who gets in, who gets deferred and who gets rejected. It is largely a numbers game and SAT scores are VERY important. Because its the only measure that is considered objective on par one applicant to another. GPA’s can be skewed by schools…and are.

However, EC’s and Recommendations factor in as well. As do some socio-economic factors and URM status.

Not saying they wont take someone in the 25th percentile. (some athletes are to be certain). But generally if you are below the 50th percentile your chances are not good.

EA tends to be a bit more selective…because they can be. There are exceptions. RD pool depends on who applies and how many and what their scores are…and how many EA applicants commit and submit their deposits…locking in their seats.

Please take the ACT. My daughter was on that low end of the SAT but her ACT was much much better.
