AP US History – 5
AP Statistics – 5
(The only one in my senior class who gets both a “5” on those two and id among the few who passed the tests at our school last year)

Senior year schedule: AP Eng Lit

What are my chances for the UC schools?
Particularly for UCB, UCLA, UCD, and UCSC
Any chances for Stanford or Ivies?
Please evaluate my status! Any help appreciated!

Assuming you are a California resident,
UCB/UCLA: Match
UCD: Safety
UCSC: Super Safety

Thanks, flospy. Actually I am not sure (confused) whether I will be considered as a California resident becuase of my current immigrant status(the visa I am holding). But our family just submitted out petition for U.S. permanent residence, and the lawyer said it may take 4-6 months to get the result. By the way, my mother works at UCSF as an associate specialist. I don't know if this will help? Last thing, I just received a letter of my ELC status confirmation from UC.

Basically, if you have that ELC number, then I think you're in at every UC. Even without that ELC number, your stats are very high.

UCB/UCLA: Match/easy Match
UCD: Safety!
UCSC:You're in. period.

In terms of ivy leagues, I think you should look into Brown and Dartmouth--you have a good chance at those colleges. Good luck!

Am I missing something...didn't you say that you got an 1800 on your SAT's!!?? Last time I checked that won't hold up at Berkley at all. I mean a 4.0 UW is great...but your 4.3 UW is only .15 above the UCB average. That SAT score is gonna seriously hurt your chances...because of them, as of now, your only a match to UCSC. And ELC only GUARENTEES admission to ONE UC. ( usually the worst one) I mean, think about it, someone could go to the worst highschool with the dumbest kids with the most grade inflation ( which I'm guesiing this school has) and be ELC. IT MEANS NOTHING! fix the SAT, and you'll be ok...if not...???

To Lionheartop2: Thanks.

To Bondsfan: Actually, I have to admit that my high school may fit in the description you just gave. I know I should really improve my SAT I score becuase 1800 is a shame. But it is really hard to increase my score on Critical Reading and Writing...

You have a decent shot at Stanford. Just make sure to "market" your ecs so that they seem remarkable.

To alien_workshop:

I guess Stanford is a distant dream to me, but how should I really "market" my ecs besides listing them and choose one EC as my part of my essay?

Describe what you did as much as you can in small paragraphs and make a big deal out of it. Just think of a "passion" within your ecs and describe it in detail.
