I am trying to get into Pratt, Risd, and other arts schools. I have reasonably solid grades and sat scores and a reasonable portfolio.

Portfolio:

Ive had a few portfolio reviews at the schools.

My portfolio includes alot of furniture I have designed and constructed, some illustration, darkroom and pinhole photography, and a limited amount of observational drawing.

The most valuable feedback I have recieved is on my observational drawing, which I need more of.

Grades:

I am averaging about a 90 in Toronto, Canada in grade 11. I'm not sure how that translates to a GPA. (I heared a rumor that our schools are harder and get weighted higher in applications)

In grade 10 I had about an 87.

SAT:

I scored a 2050 on my first test. That's:

650 in math
680 in reading
720 in writing

Im not currently planning on taking them again unless I find I really have to.

Clubs:

photo club
Wall painting (we paint murals inside the school)

I realize I am lacking in this department, How much does this matter?

Community service:

Ive done alot of ordinary stuff: food and clothing drives, canvasing. (about 23 hours)

Im in the process of kicking off a large art show for homeless teens at my uncles art gallery. This will be finished by the time I apply. This should be another hundred hours or so.

Other:

I have a highschool co-op placement at a well known architecture firm in toronto. One reference letter will come from here.

I am attending RISD precollege this summer and hope to enhance my portfolio, connections, and letters of reference there.

IM HOPING YOU CAN GIVE ME AN IDEA OF MY CHANCES... HOW SIGNIFICANT IS THE CLUBS AND COMMUNITY SERVICE AREA?
