I'm currently a Senior in high school. I go to a top-notch Catholic private school in Miami and want to find my chances of an NROTC scholarship. I'm Top Ten Percent in my class and have a 4.5 weighted GPA. My SAT is currently 1870 and I'm set to take it again over the year. While I have not participated in any school teams, I've played Intramural Dodgeball and will attend Sailing classes over the year. My intended major is Biochemical Engineering. I am in the History Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Science Honor Society and the National Honor Society. I am a Knights of Columbus Squire and an officer in my school's Video Game Club. I have also been a tutor, I work at my school's library, and have been to the National Youth Leadership Forum on National Security. I want to be a Surface Warfare Officer and want the full NROTC experience, including Summer Cruises. I am in the top 10% of my class and am in my school's gifted program.

PS- My top schools are U Penn, University of Florida and the Naval Academy, in that order.

You should be talking to your high school counselor and doing research on applying for ROTC programs or the Naval Academy and you should be doing that now not two months from now.

The Naval Academy is not a ROTC program. It is the government’s school to train active naval officers; if admitted to the Academy you automatically have a full scholarship for tuition and room and board. To be admitted, you need one thing more than good grades, good test scores, good teacher recommendations, good essays: you need to be recommended for admission by a US Congressman or Senator. That is why you should get to your counselor now and start learning what it is you will need to do to get such a recommendation. In fact you should contact the office of your congressman and senators and determine what you will need to apply.

NROTC is what you would have at other colleges. You should be fully exploring the applicable website, nrotc.navy.mil, for info which will tell you a lot including that the application period for NROTC scholarships started months ago for those who will be seniors this year. Also, through the site you can get in contact with an NROTC coordinator who can answer any questions you have.

I already know all that. i just want to find out my chances of getting into NROTC from people who have gotten the scholarship or those in charge of admissions.
