Anyone (chars)?

Wait, I think you meant to switch "W" and "unweighted." How can your weighted GPA be lower than your unweighted GPA?

My opinion:

Brown - high reach
Wharton - moderate reach
U. Chicago - reach
Northwestern - reach
MIT/Stanford - high reach
NYU - match

Dont say Wharton (Penn) say Penn (Wharton), in case people forgot Wharton is a part of Penn not the other way around!!

I hope ohnoez isnt too serious. It doesnt look to good if he/she is.

I thought U.Chicago would be a match, NYU = Safety

On what basis are you saying Wharton is a "moderate" reach, whence I have no leadership in my ECs, but you are saying Northwestern/Brown are "high reaches"

Huh?

I didn't say Northwestern was a high reach. I said it was a reach.

Brown is a high reach because from what I've heard, it's harder to get into than UPENN. It's true that if you're applying to Wharton directly, they are looking for leadership. However, if you apply there after applying to the general college, you might have a better chance.

And your ECs just kinda suck, to be quite frank. Your SAT scores, GPA, and rank, which aren't extraordinary, don't make up for that.

a 1540/1600 isnt good?

A 1540 is; a 690 on the writing, which makes the actual total a 2230, isn't extraordinary.

Why are you getting so defensive? I suggest you stop if you want more constructive criticism. No one wants to be attacked for helping someone else.

sorry about getting defensive. Its just I didn't full realize how bad of a situation Im in if what you're saying is true.

The majority of my school's are reaches I see, but what school do you think I have the BEST chance at?
Could you rank the schools from (1-10) (least difficult-most difficult)
Thanks

I'll let someone else chime in. Maybe I'm way off-base here, but I have an inkling that I'm not completely off.

Good luck.

Sure. Anyone else?

I think you are in at NYU, a match at Northwestern and
the U of C, and might well get in to one of the others, with Brown the most likely.

I was recently denied at Upenn Wharton. I guess Im gonna have to try to transfer into Wharton now.

Brown is a really good school. I'd be happy with that....if I didnt have as much competition from my school. (about 3-5 ppl applying there with better stats)

any additional feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Tell you the truth I think it will depend on your essay completely. Your academic profile is decent (averagish GPA, high SAT) but you lack anything that stands out in the way of say a hook or ECs. If you wrote very good essays it will help your case, otherwise I would say that whatever ohnoez has said is right.

BTW> Uchicago is a reach for anyone. Their applicant pool is very self selective. Don't be fooled by the highish acceptance rate. NYU is a high safety/low match.

Wow. So I really dont have a chance at anyplace other than NYU?
And by chance I mean >50%

This really sucks.

Welcome to the world of competitive college admissions. The average Ivy only takes <10% of the brightest kids in the nation.

Unless someone has a hook or some great EC, no one has a >50% chances at Northwestern/Stanford/Brown/ MIT. This is after you make the first academics cut.

If I were you I would look at the ED acceptance thread at the U of C (I don't think they particularly favor early action people) as well as Northwestern and Brown. I think you are a reasonable candidate at all of them.

The University of Chicago Early Action results thread is on page 3 at the University of Chicago CC site.
