What are my chances at Cornell AEM?

I am currently attending an accredited community college. I have a 4.0 GPA, I am a member of the honor society Phi Theta Kappa. I am the president of the Toastmasters club. I am part of the honors institute at my college. I have all the prerequisites done, and I am taking a class that is not required but they encourage it on their website. I would be transferring as a Junior. I hope to complete an internship related to finance/accounting for either a small time brokerage company or a cruise line during the current summer.

As a side note, my high school record was as follows: I had a 3.8 GPA. I was part of a few EC's but no leadership roles. I graduated with honors. During my senior year I completed an internship at a law firm have responsibilities such as researching property laws, the economy and completing reports on financial issues.

I plan on receiving letters of recommendation from the Dean of Business at my current college, as well as from a few professors. I already have one letter of recommendation from my employer when I completed the internship at the law firm.

Basically what are my chances of being accepted at this school?

Not too high - it isn’t too easy to transfer into AEM without being given the GT option from CC especially. Also, I’d leave that part about Toastmasters out unless it is a legitimate club consisting of more than just you and your friends… honestly it sounds like a joke. Your college ECs aren’t great either except for your singular opportunity back in high school.

Colene no offense but if you don’t know what Toastmasters is than either you don’t live on earth or your not a business major. I don’t mean to sound harsh or rude, but if you look it up Toastmasters is in over 120 countries and has over 270k members worldwide. This club is a huge deal worldwide, there are hundreds of companies that promote Toastmasters and want their employees to join because of its benefits. Once again the only reason i’m explaining what this club is about is because of the magnitude it has over the entire world. Anyways, now that you know what kind of club i’m the president of, you might change your opinion of me and just a few friends.

Toastmasters.org you should join!!

I feel as if you’d be a good fit for the AEM program despite your apparent lack of EC’s. There’s no harm to crafting a good application and hoping for the best.

Islander4 thank you very much, but what can I do to increase my EC’s in such a short period of time? Besides the internship this summer, should I do volunteer work to get volunteer hours?

Hm alright toastmasters is legitimate then… just the name is rather… weird.
