Well, Admissions saw something they liked, and they felt like you deserved it as well. Congratulations, as21608, and enjoy being a Seminole!

Sorry David I don’t live in Florida, the world of inflated high school gpas. My school is actually 200 in the nation which is out of about 27,000. So I don’t think you should try to put me down for being accepted. Did you even consider I got in for summer, not fall? Clearly they liked something in me. Good luck to you, for I don’t know how you will survive the social aspect of college and make any friends the way you talk to people. You obviously have some self-esteem issues and try to bring everyone down with you as well-- wont happen for me though because I believe I deserve this 100%.

Fsutimes: thank you so much! I am so excited & visiting in February

^Ouch.

Welcome to the Tribe, as21608! :)

Ha Thank you very much!

Congratulations as21608!

Don’t mind david, he’s not mature enough to understand that he doesn’t know it all.

Thank you!!! :)

As21608-
I am not going to get into a fight with you over your acceptance other than you yourself posted when accepted for summer term that you indicated (very surprisingly), so I am not sure why the hostility ?
But I do have a question for you and please respond if you dont mind.
What verification from any reliable source do you have that your school is rated # 200 out of 27,000?
Where did you get this information from as I am sincerely curious?
PS- Honestly, you know that you got very lucky! GOOD LUCK

congrats on your acceptance

Newsweek rankings. GOOD LUCK.

908Kiddo- thank you and best of luck :)

@as21608- Would that be Madison High School?

as21608, Congrats on being accepted.

And as posted above, ignore david. If you take a look at his posting history, you’ll see that it’s best to do so. He’s always trying to incite fights.

It’s actually like 240 something, I didn’t know the exact number. it’s council rock.

Pasbal: thank you so much! And yeah I’m not too worried about him lol he won’t brin me down :)

Congratulations as21608! Maybe we’ll be 'Noles together. :)

Oh my gosh, so true. Did you see the post he posted about whether FSU was “gay friendly”? So needlessly offensive. And promptly reported.

And apparently removed. :)

Congratulations as21608! You definitely deserved it; ESPECIALLY if you were admitted out of state. Admissions showed this year that standardized test scores don’t really matter for much, and it sounds like that was the only weak part of your application.

3.4 Unweighted GPA is fine depending on your schedule. That’s why it’d be helpful to know the OP’s WEIGHTED GPA.

nickirows-- Thank you! And thank GOD it got removed. It sounded like something one of the Westboro Baptist Church members would say, lol. I was appalled. Have you been accepted yet?

Matt-- Thank you so much! And yeah I took the ACT once and the SAT twice with basically no prep. Kind of stupid but if deferred or anything I was prepared to take another test. Also, I agree. A 3.4 UW is pretty much normal from what I’ve seen. Not sure what my FSU weighted is but it’s definitely higher than a 3.4. Overall, how do you like it at FSU? I’m visiting in February :)

I’m definitely happy to be here. Tallahassee is a great college town. Not only does it have great night life, but there’s plenty to do if that’s not your thing as well.

A majority of my professors have been great, and I’ve rarely noticed the stereo type of the arrogant professor. Most of my professors seem to enjoy teaching and make themselves very accessible to students.

We have the best campus in the state (at least with the public schools). UCF folks can argue this all they want, but I’ll take our traditional brick buildings over their modernized circular mess all day. UF, USF, and all of the other schools can’t even make an argument.

The FSU Gameday experience is comparable with the gameday experience at all of the other major college football programs, though our pregame tradition was voted #1 by ESPN! Nothing quite like being at Doak for a big game, or any game for that matter. I can’t think of a good reason to miss any home game.

Finally, Tallahassee weather is excellent. It’d be cool if it snowed, and Summers are STIFLING, but we have moderate temperatures longer than anyone else in the state of Florida. From mid-February through the end of the semester, the weather is amazing… just in time for baseball season! Plus, we actually experience winter temperatures for a decent amount of days in a year, unlike south and central Florida.

@ Matt I would sure like to know my weighted gpa as well, hopefully my school included it in my transcripts

OP, it is easy to calculate your weighted gpa – you add .5 for each year-long honors course, and 1 point for each year-long AP or IB course. For example, here is how it would look for a composition course:

English Composition – A = 4.0
Honors English Composition – A =4.5
AP/IB English Composition – A =5.0

If the course is just a semester, you would add .25 or .5, respectively for honors or AP.

FSU has the instuctions for how to do this on their website. With an unweighted gpa of 3.4, if you have some AP/IB or Honors classes in the mix, you should have a higher weighted gpa.

Good luck to you!
