bump.. does anyone know my chances?

i have similar stats, live in NY and go to a top tier public school...1290 sat..i think we both have a really good chance

i hope we have good chances.. does anyone else know our chances?

I think you guys both have good chances. but umd-cp is pretty competetive esp. for out of state. Apparently for a state school they take a pretty personal look at your app. so make sure to write good essays.

ya im a pretty good creative writer, i was published alot. and the topic is about diversity. well i have gone through lots of diversity like living in a different countriy, going to private and public school. so i think i will have a good essay im scared though that my gpa will hurt me. i did good in all my subject no grades below a B and mots A. Except for spanish i got 2 C's. i tried but language was just so hard for me.

haha coastingblue your like exactly like me (i'm also applying to umd-cp) i'm out of state. smililars stats. only c was in french. ive gone to public and private school, and ive lived in a foreign country. i hope we both get in!

OoOh IM instate!:P Lets hope we all get in!

im working on my essay.. also in the application there is nowhere to include that my father and sister both graduated from UMD. Only my sister graduated from UMD-CP, though.

Yea..im also working on my essays as well..ive done the main essay..and now im just working on the finding ur niche essays! wow...! Im not going to be able to make the Nov 1st deadline which is soo annoying..but oh well! Whats everyone elses stats?
Btw you knwo the place where it says any additional info you would liek them to know..does that mean we can include another essay?

I live in Maryland so I can give you some up to date advice. The average WEIGHTED GPA for admitted students is 3.95 or so. It will depend on what courses that you took. My son had 1200 on the SATs with a weighted GPA of 3.6 and didn't get in for the September semester! If you are from out of state, it is probably a bit harder.

wow...well i have an unweighted GPA of 3.9! and Im in state!but im nut applying by the nov date, would that make things harder for me? My stats are above if you want to have a look at my courses etc..any input will b gr8!

Tamy02, your GPA is about right but your SATs are a bit low. If you get in, it will be by the skin of your teeth. If you can raise your SATs up a bit, ( say 50 points), you should be ok.

yea? thnx 4 that tip!

im real scared my gpa is to low(3.2). i took lots of challenging classes and go to a top tier public school, but damn language made my gpa so low. i htink my sat is good 1260. to make it worse im out of state.

well you knwo what dont get down about it...we dont really know how these admission officers wrk...we all have an equal chance of gettin in...!!!

DS applied to seven schools. The only one he did NOT get accepted to was U Maryland College Park. His SAT 1320, GPA 3.3, top 20% of his class, excellent ECs and recommendations. We honestly don't know why he didn't get accepted, but he didn't. He is a sophomore at Boston University (where he also received significant merit aid). Go figure.

Wow!! That just shows that we really dunt know what the admission officers are looking for!:P

i thought that the priority deadline was november 1st for part one, december 1st for part two. Am i mistaken? I have already sent in part 1 of my application, im working on part two which i fill definitely finish before dec. 1st.

also, ive never heard of anyone with such good SATs and GPA being rejected! I go to a high school in NY, and my guidance counselor told me the stats for kids who were accepted/rejected from my school last year. most of them who were accepted had SATs in the 1100's.

yea u r right...the part I deadline is nov 1st..i misunderstood!AHHh...i'll b ready by dec 1st for part II!
