The only thing people on this board can tell you is where your GPA/SATs fit into the schools distribution. If you’re above the 75th percentile and you’ve taken the hardest classes at your school, than you have a good chance of getting in.

As far as the schools you listed, Duke and Penn (non-Wharton) are a little more selective than JHU and Cornell, and all are somewhat more selective than CMU.

Penn CAS acceptance rate 8.7%. Duke 12.4%. Jhu 21%. Cornell 18%.

that’s not right, JHU’s was 18% last year

For the most recent admissions cycle:

Penn: 12.26% (pending waitlist numbers which will increase this)
Duke: 12.6% (will go up with a lot of waitlist admissions)
JHU: 18.3% (unknown if they will go to waitlist)
Cornell: 18% (no waitlist)

So that’s basically what I said. By selectivity Penn = Duke > JHU = Cornell. In any case percent accepted is not the same as selectivity, even though they are roughly related.

Also I’m surprised that Penn CAS is below average. Does SEAS have a higher acceptance rate?

thanks for the acceptance rates stats.
do you think the above mentioned schools would submit me based on my stats?

also, i forgot to include

 • i got a 4 on the ap micro exam
 • the rest of the exams i took this year
 • also, I got accepted into Princeton University’s Enrichment Program and I may take a class there (first semester of my senior year) if my schedule allows me to.

In all honesty, based on what I have seen on this board, I think your chances are slim in RD at any of these schools. Coming from such an over-represented state (NJ), your real chance at any of these schools is in ED.

If you apply RD, my sense is that you’ll be holding a bunch of WL and rejection letters. You do have a chance in ED at any of these schools.

Wharton was around 8%. Dean of admissions told us that Wharton was within half a percent of CAS. SEAS is something like 16%. The ED SEAS rate was 60% or something obscene like that

Great stats. Your only weakness is lack of athletics, but dance just might make up for that. Also, don’t make it so obvious that you want to go to med school. That hurts your chances at any of the schools you’ve listed. Best wishes to you in your college search!

WealthofInformation - could you expand? I can obviously only apply to 1 of the above mentioned schools ED & if I do get rejected, do you think I won’t have a chance at any of the other schools RD?

You have the stats for possible admission to any of the schools, but anything is possible. ED or RD it’s possible you could get into two of these schools, three of these schools, or none of these schools. Prepare your applications with the best essays and recommendations that you can, hope for the best, and finalize your list with several matches and safeties that meet your needs and that you wouldn’t mind attending and you will be fine.
