What are my chances for addmission to top universities?
I am an international student from india currently pursuing 12th grade. I have yet to answer the sat 1 and the subject tests. i am positive that i'll be able to get above 2000(and above 750 in math) in the sat-1 and above 700 in all the subjects (which are maths level-1 and 2 and physics).I am in the top 2% of the students in my school and will surely get good recommendation letters.
Also, for extracurriculars, I participated in the district level football competition in 8th grade( which we won), won the district level tennis tournament in 9 th and 10th successive grades. Also won the district level badminton tournament in the 11th grade. i lost in 12th grade but was still selected to represent the district at the state level. I represented my district at the state level in all these sports in their respective years. Also, i have taken two mountaineering and trekking courses (high altitude trekking) certified by the government. i also published some poems in a newspaper in 10th grade.
What are my chances for the ivy-league, MIT or other top universities. please suggest

I Want Help Here!!

This has absolutely 0 to do with your question, but are you applying (do you even apply) to IIT Bombay?

yes, i will be appearing in the iit exam in march

Sweet. Good luck man. I respect anyone who applies to be subjected to such intense competition unknown to most Americans.

Addmission to IIT is more difficult than to the ivy league. But will try my hand at both these. :)

I remember reading in one of my textbooks that IIT only accepts about 1% of applicants, which is less than 1/10 of the ratio of students accepted at Harvard. That’s just crazy competitive. What do you have to do to get in? Take an exam?

Anyway, as long as you get 2200+ on the SATs you have a great shot at top American universities.

any one tell me about my chances
not about IIT

is there anyone or im the only one on this site?

umm good luck is all i can say.
i mean you have fierce comp out there…

Make the expected SAT score 2100

Anyone?
Help needed

bump bump :(

SOMEONE PLZZ BOTHER TO REPLY

You might want to post this on the International student forum, as posters there are more likely to be familiar with the standards for Int. applicants.

Plus, without an actual SAT score, gpa and indication of the difficulty of your course work, the top 2% class standing is not very meaningful. While ECs are important, they definitely take a back seat to academics (HS record and test scores).

In addition, when someone asks for chances for ALL the Ivies, it tends to show that they have not done much of a search for colleges that fit their needs, but rather are just looking for prestige, and that tends to turn people off.

entomom is correct… Top 2% is not helpful. I would expect that International applicants would need to be top 0.5%, unless the high school in question is quite competitive and selective in its own right.

To give you an idea, there are 27,000 high schools in the U.S. There are approx. 20,000 freshman slots combined in the The Top 10 Universities in the US. Therefore, the US Top 10 do not have room for just the Valedictorian from each of these schools, let alone top .5% or 1%.

we dont have a gpa in india but it should be around 3.8-3.9(out of 4)
