being a member of "Dream Awake" an organization that helps poor kids, I myself have gone many weekends and make them have fun, and raise money for them

do i have a good chance of entering? i dont need financial aid and i will be applying early decision

I have a much higher GPA, a lot more ECs, and almost as many APs and people are telling its a reach. If that is true, it’d probably be a mid to high reach for you.

isnt it easier for me for being an international student?

Oh it could be. I dont really know too much about international students. Someone else surely does though

I didn’t see where you mentioned that you’d be an international student.

I don’t know too much about how International admissions works but I’m guessing a high reach… depends on whether the school system in Colombia is much harder than in the United States but since you had AP classes I’m guessing it’s around the same (for example, in Europe we don’t have AP classes because the school curriculum is so much harder)

yeah sorry for not specifying when i meant colombian i meant international student from colombia, so should i just discard it? i can easily enter bu or northeastern my dream school is nyu though, will taking subject tests help? im applying early decision and i read on collegeboard that 10% have a gpa of 3.0 to 3.25

Um… I’m taking 6 IB classes have almost the same exact gpa as you, well over 300+ hours of community service and I’m having trouble getting into a good instate university. If your instate then your chances are already very high, but if your out of state then you might want to consider some back up schools as well. That 10% top of class and sports might help

Chance me plz;

bump any more help? please

^ being hispanic may be able to help you, but I don’t know how the international student status helps you.

I can’t say if you can get in without any SAT and SAT II data.
The thing that is holding you back is GPA. Even Boston U has a GPA avg admit rate of 3.5.

i havent taking the sat taking it on june 6 taking the subject tests on october though

factors in your favor:

colombian international (things get harder for intls from places like china, india, korea, singapore and so on. colombia is underrepresented so that’s in your favor)

full pay (in this day and age, full pay especially given your ethnicity and nationality will work in your favor)

hispanic (URM. self-explanatory)

hardest courseload

early decision

factors that work against you:

3.25 GPA (but this must be put in context, many international schools, like mine have different grading systems which may make your otherwise great grades look dismal in comparison. this is where standardized tests come in)

nothing really stands out in your extracurriculars

no APs

Your SAT and SAT Subject test scores will add perspective. So it may be better for you to ask for chances after you’ve gotten those scores. You’ll get more helpful feedback since we’ll be able to see your application (as an int’l student in perspective). Work on those factors that will act against you (if you have time). And because you’ve already established NYU as your top choice, don’t decide to ED to some other place just because you think you’ll stand a better shot at getting in. The idea of fit is very important to these schools so you wouldn’t want to throw away the chance to be happy for 4 years. Go for ED @ NYU.
