my gpa weighted is a 4.28846
I am 7th out of 228 in my class
I have taken 8 of the 9 AP classes my school offers (AP psychology, biology, chemistry, English, History, Government, Calculus, Latin) and have also taken Honors course throughout all of high school.

I started working at Food Lion my senior year.

Do I have a good chance at getting into UVA?

Are you in-state? (wonders because she’s never heard of a Virginia school that small offering that many AP classes and Latin)

I’d say you’ve got a good shot academically and in ECs. I’m not sure how much they value SAT scores. I mean, they’ll accept someone with a 1400 and 3.8 GPA sometimes. It all depends on the person. So it would be about trying to sell yourself as best as you can. You’re kinda on a bubble. UVa’s admissions can be all over the place.

Yes I am in state and my school is quite small (about 950 students total for 9-12) Also would the fact that I am the first in my family to actually go to college help me out any?

I guessed. Mine is about 1200. 255 in the graduating class. My friends have smaller schools though. I’m jealous. My school tends to go for DE classes more than AP. Not that I take the DE classes through my high school. I take DE classes through Governor’s School which is through a different community college than my high school. I just found the Latin odd because the only school I know that offers Latin is scary big.

By the way, I’d suggest trying to take the November SAT if you can. It’d be good to try to up the scores.

yeah lol my we have latin 1-4 and also AP latin. I think that will help me too because i took all 5 years. Oh! another thing is that my school is on a 6 point scale based on grades so i don’t know it that will help me out too

Can I get some more chances from some other people? Is there anybody who has been accepted before that can give me some good pointers or can tell me if I will be a good applicant?

anybody else want to give me some feedback on my chances? i really would like some more opinions

you have some great stats but in my school the avg GPA accepted at UVA is 4.52… I would look at william and mary as well
chance back

Bring your SAT up by at least 100 points and you should be good. Right now, it looks like a low reach. Your SAT could be your downfall.

Yeah indy the only problem with getting a 4.52 is it is impossible in my school because the top kid in our graduating class has taken the hardest classes all throughout high school possible and still doesn’t have higher than a 4.5. So yeah
