So I want to know what are the odds of me getting into Stanford btw I am an international student ! I scored 2200 on my SAT 1 and scored 1500 on SAT 2 (Math & Bio) and took a 4 scoreAP in Calclus , 5 in Computer Science , 4 in Physics ! For my EC I develop websites and iPhone applications ! What are my odds for Computer Science degree do I need to raise my SAT score

Admission to Stanford is very difficult for international students. Only a small amount of places are available. The overall admission rate is only 5 pct, not sure of the admissions rate for internationals. So they are really looking for the top few students in your country academically.

High reach

Honestly slim. The good news is that it is slim for everyone. You should research, in past years, how many students applied and were admitted.

BoolaHi I want to know if I am missing something I could add so I could get accepted

Theanaconda do you think I would be accepted with the above scores

Is what I did suffice

At present, your scores are very marginal–did not mean to be so blunt. Similar to what other commenters have posted, in addition to your scores, it also depends on your situation (what country–how many other applicant from that country and/or region), your interests, and your own life story. For instance, and I am just making this up–are you from war torn Chad, has a compelling life story, and want to eventually study at the Hoover institute, then I would say, you make a fairly lucid and poignant statement…

So you mean I should try to trigger their emotions and feelings of empathy and show them that I am an underdog who fought and never gave up to earn his place

Hmmn, that in itself is not going to secure yourself admission. Again, you should do some background research from your country and see how many applicants it has historically. For many international applicants, especially from Asia and Western Europe, well for that matter central and eastern Europe, their scores are much higher than yours–as is the majority of accepted students from the US—i.e. you need to make a compelling story in combination on whether you might be an underrepresented population on campus. While not entirely impossible, it is still going to be a reach.

@Ahmedrezq. @boolaHI made some excellent points. If I am not mistaken you will be applying from one of the Middle East/North African country. Is that correct? If indeed you are applying from one of the under-represented countries you will probably have a slightly “better” chance than someone applying from India, China, Korea, Japan, Germany, Great Britain that have far more qualified applicants who want to study at Stanford…

…so, if you are a senior applying this year…work on your essays and recommendations…and show why you have the intellectual vitality and passion to succeed at Stanford in your chosen field of CS…

Best wishes!

The above if very good counsel. In short, you need to articulate a lucid nexus between your qualifications and why Stanford would be your optimal school of study.

@garvitas2 @boolaHI I am applying from Egypt a country in Africa / Middle East and my scores are the highest in the region , and I need to go to Stanford since CS in my region is underestimated and there are no world-class CS institutes in the region I also have athletic passions and championships( taekwondo and Soccer) shall I mention them ?

You won’t make it. Sorry.

@adeljanevic why is that ?

Egypt suffers from economic loss and revolutions and the region is threatend by Isis

@Ahmedrezq. You should definitely mention your level of achievement in sports and if you were Olympic or national level in either soccer or Taekwondo that would definitely be a boost…along with your major passion in CS accomplishments.

…and because you are applying from Egypt and you wrote:
…you will have excellent opportunity to convey this one of your essays…
