What do you lovely people think?

Thanks!

Also, 500+ community service hours when everything is added up

I think you have a decent chance at UNC. If you were in-state, there would be no doubt that you’d get in. Your grades and ECs are very good. In my opinion, your standardized scores are a bit on the low side (for an out-of-state applicant) but the GPA, class rank and ECs are outstanding. Bottom line: With UNC you just never know.

Thanks, man, I wish it wasn’t such a toss up! I’m getting very mixed reviews and I’m becoming quite concerned. Anyone else’s thoughts?

UNC is a crap shoot. My dd was rejected in 2013 with a 4.0 unweighted , never got a B and her weighted GPA was a 4.5 - top 10 in her class. 34ACT. Lots of great ECs and a state and national level athlete. 4 years of employment in high school. Not sure how they will view the local college classes. Honestly classes at our local CC are easier than the honors courses at my daughters high school but it depends on the school.

^^Well that’s concerning. Thank you for your input though. I hope they take my college courses into consideration, because some of those were absolutely ridiculously hard, much harder than my high school’s AP or Honors courses. And the institution is a state college, not a community college, so maybe it has more weight? I don’t know, but my fingers are crossed so hard they’re fracturing.

Bump bump

Update: Accepted into Duke University through Early Decision, and thus no longer have to worry about UNC!

@maenicsta Congratulations on being accepted into Duke via ED! That is great!

To those experienced members out there, for an “out of state student” is it easier to get into UNC-CH or Duke?
