Match at GT, UW, UCLA, and UM
High Match at CMU
Reach at Princeton

Really? Thought Michigan was a reach, do they look a lot at ECs?

It’s true that Michigan has been getting more selective and that OOS is a bit harder than IS, but I definitely wouldn’t call your profile a reach. You have excellent course rigor, amazing SAT I and II scores, an OK GPA, and great EC’s. I would have to agree with ccuser95, Michigan is a match. Good luck!

Great! Thanks a lot guys!

I agree with ccuser. Well, Wisconsin is a safety. CMU would have been a match if you applied to anything but CS. However, for CS, CMU is crazy-selective. Michigan is a match. Your only real reach is Princeton.

Great! I’ll probably apply to multiple schools at CMU then. Thank you!

I’m not going to “chance” you for the other schools, but I think your chances for Michigan are very good.

Good to know! Thank you!

Would anyone else happen to have any helpful input?

Yes, if you’re a junior with those scores you could get in anywhere. To already have those scores in March of your junior year is impressive. You are at a threshold where you are at least in the lottery at any school in the US. That doesn’t guarantee you anything, but as long as you’re protected maybe you should give yourself some space to readjust your list over the next 6 months. Of course if one of the schools you’ve already mentioned is your absolute #1 then follow your heart.

Are you a junior? How do you already have 8 5s and 1 4 on 9 AP classes? You had 9 APs by the end of your sophomore year???

no, I apologize for not stating it earlier, but Ive only finished 5 by the end of sophomore year, 4 of them, ( AP Physics B, AP Government, APUSH, and AP Environmental Science) are projections of my score on the AP test based on what I’ve been scoring consistently on practice AP exams.

So you decided to take a “reduced” load junior year, LOL! 5 APs in sophomore year is still impressive…as many as some good candidates take in their entire high school career. Are you sure you already are set on engineering? Is that what you said? I get nervous about 16 years deciding “who they want to be when they grow up” too early. With your stats, I would find a person you trust that you can talk to face-to-face about where you are at and what your options are.

haha, actually I took Calc AB and Stat in 9th grade and Chem, Macro and Micro in 10th grade. I appreciate the input! Im pretty certain on CS and economics, but I think it is a good idea for me to do that to gain a more accurate perspective on both fields. UMich is ranked pretty highly in both areas right?

Also, get that GPA up! You still have some time.

yup, that’s what I’m trying to do, English is my only b, which is unavoidable for me.

@FinalChild sorry, don’t have enough posts to reply to the message, but I just don’t plan on applying to Harvard and such because I felt CMU was better for CS than every school except MIT, and I thought my ECs and GPA were a bit too weak for MIT

Is this a sound decision?

Why does it hurt to throw in another application?
