what are my chances for UVA, Boston U., and a few more...

Also let me mention that the trig course and pre cal course listed in junior year are each a semester course so they don't factor in to my GPA as much. Also under junior year the Graphics Img. Tech II class is worth 2 credits so it counts as 2 A's on my GPA.

My SAT scores: a 730 on my reading, 650 on my math, and 620 on my writing. I am on the varsity ice hockey team, do community service, can list a lot of awards, and have just a few clubs. I am also a minority (Asian - Indian Subcontinent). With all this stuff listed what are my odds of getting in to UVA? I am in-state and plan on doing early decision. If I get deferred I then plan on VA Tech, William and Mary, Boston Univ., NYU... what are my odds at each of these? Also, what should I be considering as my "safety"? Any feedback greatly appreciated. :)

also, I forgot to mention that my total weighted GPA after junior year will be about 3.85 or 3.90, i will be in the top 15% of my class... any other info you guys need?

I'd say your list looks healthy, but like you said you'll want to throw a safety on there. Remember that you only want to apply to schools you'd actually attend, so when you're looking for 'safeties' don't reach too low. Your scores are good for the range of schools you're looking at, and it sounds like you have ECs that will set you apart to a good extent.

Are you planning on staying in the mid-Atlantic, or are you looking elsewhere as well?

Thanks, for the response. Preferably I'd like to stay in the mid-atlantic region.

also i'd like to mention that the thing that worries me the most is the fact that i took earth science in 10th grade instead of chemistry... i really wish i had taken chem in 10th so i would've been able to take physics honors in 11th and then AP Bio in 12th... will this mistake cost me admission at my top choices?

wow... 29 views and only one person has replied... come on you guys, help me out. please.

I have a feeling you're not getting much response because honestly your list looks reasonable and you seem to have a good grasp of what's going on. I'd add several safety-ish schools from the mid-Atlantic region just for security, but otherwise you are good to go. No felonies, right? =)

Nash

lol, no felonies... but i could really use some help with coming up with a list of safeties... there's always George Mason University, but if i go there i'd have to live at home for another 4 years since it's so close... i guess james madison would be a pretty good safety but it just doesn't seem like a school i'd like to go to... can someone recommend me safeties?

also i pointed out my concern of how those science classes will look on my transcript.... if i take Physics at the local community college will that help my chances? if so by how much?

umm safeties around there.. well i tihnk boston university is a safety for you, personally. also, some safeties im considering: hamilton, bucknell, wake forest, chapel hill, trinity, union, william and mary, lafayette, u of michigan

William and Mary, a SAFETY?! Your grades and class rank must be through the roof if you're considering William and Mary as your safety. I know kids at my high school who got accepted in to Ivy League and got rejected from William and Mary.

haha oh wow sorry maybe it was just our school then.. i know 3 kids, and one had an SAT score of a 1280 (old score), and took 3 APs total with an unweighted GPA of around an 88 (i'm not sure what that converts to), and he got into william and mary. it could've just been flukey, i could have a wrong impression completely.
