Im from maryland and have a weighted 3.58 gpa and I just took the SAT what SAT score should I get?
From admissions website, the profile for 2015 students:
Freshman Class (as of Fall 2015)
Applied: 25,736
Enrolled: 5,190
GPA (high school average): 4.01
SAT mid-range: 1130-1280
ACT mid-range: 25-30
Scoring in the mid-range will give you a decent/good chance depending on your GPA (which USC recalculates). You need to see what you score and then check with admissions about what your GPA looks like to them. Are you a junior? if so yo may also want to try ACT. You can retake in fall to try and improve once you see where you stand.
Look back at some old acceptance threads and see how others did that were accepted.
If look at money matters you will see that at GPA of 3.7 and average SAT of 1245 (ACT 28) you would likely qualify for scholarship that would reduce OOS tuition - a good goal for OOS student.
@scmom12 I will have a weighted GPA of 4.0-3.9 what are my chances now?
You look like a strong candidate as long as SAT/ACT are in line with the GPA. Really, after you get your scores try to visit and chat with admissions counselor. They are there to help and might have some good suggestions. I’m not sure if any majors have higher standards - it would be a good thing to ask.
@scmom12 thanks!
How will you have a 3.9-4.0 by the end of junior year? Your senior grades won’t be known at the time you apply.
Have you asked your parents how much they’ll pay each year? You’ve started many threads about different OOS publics and they will be costly. If you haven’t asked them, do so. You need that info to make affordable choices.
If they’ll pay $45k+ per year, then super. If not, you will need a new list.
^^This. OP, some schools do look at senior midterm grades. USC is not one of those as far as I know. So it will be your junior GPA that is evaluated. You can take SAT/ACT again in fall in time to apply if you need to. If you are truly interested in USC, apply EA and you will have an answer by mid-December.
@mom2collegekids it’s my weighted GPA
